A short essay delineating George Orwells recipe for the perfect cup of tea. Im a casual tea drinker myself, utilizing tea bags of various brands and flavors whenever the mood strikes, and definitely more so in the colder months. But I did learn about the proper (or at least Orwellian) method if I ever decide to prepare a pot of tea the standard way. As a rule, Orwell wrote an essay with political undertones. He used a cup of tea as the instrument for his political viewpoints. It is a nice cup of tea, indeed.Reading it is so relaxing and meditating. However, it may not be my cup of tea. I prefer coffee. ^^

Orwell was 100% right about not putting sugar in tea, in fact I would go one step further and say you shouldn't put milk into your tea. This was a fun little article about making tea and I encourage any tea reader to give it a read and maybe critique it a bit depending on your tastes.

The tone Orwell expresses within his writing of this literary work is a sense of sincerity, seriousness, and himself being informative all at once.

Very short. Read it online. Orwell describes the best way to make tea. I know how important it is to make tea properly and I totally agree with him that one likes it stronger the more one drinks it, and that sugar should be avoided. And of course boiling water should be used, not merely boiled water. If it is not, it will not steep properly. Strong and hot, just the way I like it too.

I am not a tea drinker but I make tea for my mother-in-law, more often than not, I believe she is happy with my tea brewing skills. That being said yes to the author, yes to the topic, No to his recipe. I would have written mine here but no point, I can't fight with him over it. Lovely, evocative story.
