I was very curious about it because A. the cover. B. The Ballerina & The Fighter. An odd couple. Gentleness and roughness these two. Boy meets girl.Boy falls in love with the girl, And they live happily ever after... Not. What made me love this story was the tragedy after another. the main characters (i'll talk about them in a bet) didn't actually have a relationship in any kind, they knew each other, and they left an impression on each other which made it hard to move on and forget about the summer short fling. It was never the right time, too many things were happening in both of their lives. Maze is a Fighter. A Martial art artist. Sexy i know. When he was five years old his mother married a Japaneses guy who happened to be Japanese mafia boss? -Sorry i forgot the name, i'm writing this review after a while of reading the book.Anyway the rough bad scene was always a part of his life. When he meets the sweet, delicate Ballerina Ivy, his life shifts, he wanted her, he craved her. As he watched her one day on the beach dancing and taking pictures with her best friend , you can say that his view and priorities kind of shifted. He has to know her. And he did. They had spend lots of time together until the end of it. And after the tragic accident that happened , She wanted to focus on her ballet career and he wanted to focus on his fights and life. 5 years went by with nothing more than texts and simple hellos, it is after all hard to build something when you are literary live across the world. He was in China training. She was in New York living her dream The ending was great. It wasn't 100% stated which i liked. It just gives the right amount of hope that they will a happy life. Some people has issue of how it ended but come on people >>(The Ballerina and The Fighter, #1) < #1 so there will be other books. We all like that HEA ending but every once in a while i love non detailed ending; this book provided that for me. There were a lot of things going on. It was deep and raw and emotional. It felt longer that it actually is. And i felt that the writer did a very good job writing it. Well written with a good steamy scenes. The only thing that i have a problem with is that horrible cover. I mean from afar it's brilliant if it was well executed it would have been my favorite this year BUT when you i looked closely i found that the idiot who Photoshoped it made it look like puke! O.o But the concept behind it was extremely good. The leap in the air (the first move he saw her doing)simply perfect.

They missed each other and reconnect easily. But Maze has been keeping something from Ivy and his life can change soon. That change could jeopardize his relationship with Ivy. I liked Maze and Ivy. They are opposite. She’s a ballerina and he’s a MMA fighter. She’s soft and short. He’s raw and tall. They are both passionate and talented about their sport. I liked Maze and Ivy together. They are good together. I hoped that they would find their way back to each other fast. I was happy that Maze took the first step. Maze is protective and possessive over Ivy. Ivy loves Maze like he’s. The Ballerina & the Fighter is a quick, fast paced novella. It felt sometimes rushed. This novella is not spectacular, but I did like it. The author’s passion about ballet was obvious. I was quite shocked about who Maze’s stepdad is and what Maze wants to do. There is a sequel of Maze and Ivy’s story that I may or may not read. It doesn’t end with a cliffhanger, but there are some things unsolved. I may read it, because I like the characters enough and I’m curious about what else could happen to them. I may not read, because I can just forget the last sentence and fantasy about their future.

4 Sizzling hot Maze stars Really enjoyed this book, totally different to other fighter books I've read which makes this story unique, took me a bit to get into as I thought it was going to be too Y/A going by the dialogue and the age of the characters but thank god I was proved wrong as the story progressed.. Just one thing I think ALL authors who do cliff hangers should ALL be put on an island and shot!! I HATE CLIFF HANGERS!! Arrrgghhh!! Ok now that I've calmed down bring on book 2!!

Unfortunately after few weeks together they lose contact and start to life with regret of not giving each other a proper chance. Ivy is ballerina. She’s beautiful young woman, who’s like feather. Light, slim, full of grace and elegance. She makes ballet the most spectacular dance ever. She breathes dance and create art by her movements. Maze is fighter. He’s strong, possessive as well as protective. He practices martial arts from the childhood and he’s very good at kicking ass. Ivy and Maze are opposites to each other. She’s light and graceful to his strong and caring. They’re like magnets. Even five years after their fling they’re still thinking about each other. The Ballerina and The Fighter is enjoyable romance. Being entirely honest I have to confess I have mixed feelings about this book. It’s not bad read and I’m quite sure lots of people will love it, but it wasn’t exactly what I needed. There are things I enjoyed immensely. Especially the author’s love of ballet. You can see and feel it only by reading Sinclair’s descriptions. I have never danced, I’m too tall and clumsy for that, but I really want to try it, because of this book. Another thing I adored is relationship between Maze and Ivy, I’m glad I could read alternative point of views. And the sex scenes are sizzling. I didn’t like that some things are rushed, I just couldn’t connect with the rest of the story. Some characters need pimping. Overall, 3.75 star for creativity, well written relationship and steamy factor.

3.5 Stars *****I received ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.**** Okay I will have to be honest with one of the main reasons I wanted to read this book was simply because of Maze. I have a weakness for hot sexy fighters in any form, and Maze being a Mixed Martial Arts fighter then I knew I would have to read this one. ;) Maze and Ivy first meet when they are teenagers, they are instantly attracted to each other, and end up having a whirlwind summer romance, at the end of the summer 3.5 Stars *****I received ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.**** Okay I will have to be honest with one of the main reasons I wanted to read this book was simply because of Maze. They never forget each other, but life gets in the way, and they keep in touch with the odd text here and there. “But in my heart, I knew we were each headed in different directions, whatever we might have been…. Well just wasn’t meant to be” ~ Ivy Fast forward five years and back in the US for one last fight Maze contacts Ivy and it's pretty clear when they meet that the feelings, and the chemistry that they have for each other is still there. “But electricity zing between us again, my gaze went from our joined hands to stare into the burning gaze of Maze. The connection was still there, flaring between us, and he felt it too.”~ Ivy “I had to see her. Feel her near me again. Now it was so much worse that I’d imagined. I never wanted to let her go again. All these years, yeah I’d been living my life, going through the motions, but an important me wasn’t there. She’d held on to it. “ ~ Maze Picking up where they off, felt that the natural thing to do, but the darker side of Maze’s fighting means that their relationship does not run smoothly. Ivy is beautiful, sweet and very talented. She lives and breathes ballet. I really like her, she had a sensible head on her, and I liked how she didn’t dwell on things. Maze was a Mixed Martial Arts Fighter, I knew I was going to like Maze, and he didn’t disappoint me. He was hot, strong, sexy, an alpha male and a kick ass fighter. Although one time he did annoy me, but I could understand why he did what he did as he was trying to protect Ivy. I enjoyed the storyline, and as I said in a previous review I have never aspired or even had the figure to be a ballerina, but I liked how the author’s description brought it to life. Maze’s story was interesting, and the darker side of his fighting added some suspense and action. I liked that the book had a real diversity of characters; and the fact that it was an interracial relationship, which is not the norm in many books, even though it is very common in today's society. It had some likeable secondary characters such as Ivy’s best friend Dante, I liked how he was protected of Ivy and always looking out for her. Ivy and Maze were definitely a hot couple with great chemistry, and I liked their relationship. “But this wasn’t just any girl; this was Ivy. My girl. She’d always been mine, always held my heart”~ Maze “The man didn’t ask permission, he came, he saw, he conquered”.~ Ivy Overall this book written from both points of view had the romance, the drama and steamy hot scenes that I like, and was an easy afternoon read. Even though the story was fast paced it did feel rushed at times, and had the story it to of been longer I think some areas could have been developed more. It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but I did think that it just ended I think a few more chapters would have been good. I couldn’t find any information to suggest that there will be another book about Maze and Ivy, but if there was I would happily read it. One last quote: “I was no longer the boy she’d once known I was a man now. And she no longer that young ballerina just beginning to fly. She was shooting among the damn stars now.”~ Maze

This was a good story overall. New Adult has yet to grow on me because of the whole "good girl/bad boy" trope and serious lack of diversity, but The Ballerina & the Fighter had enough depth to draw me in and keep me emotionally invested in at least some of the characters, certainly enough to read the sequel. Ivy and Maze meet one summer and of course, romance happens. Tragedy also happens as Ivy loses her best friend Shelly in a drunk driving accident. Maze and Ivy move on with their perspective lives--his in the uber-violent world of underground mixed martial arts and the Asian underworld, hers ad a primary ballerina in New York. Five years later fate (and a fight) bring them together again. Ursula Sinclair writes incredible fight and dance scenes. Interestingly enough, there's not much difference between the two. She has a wonderful narrative style which flows and draws you into the story, though there are times where there's more "tell" than "show". She also infuses her secondary characters with depth. They're not just window dressing. I absolutely LOVED Dante, Ivy's dance partner and roommate. He deserves his own story for being incredibly loyal in spite of unrequited love. It is vitally important to me as a woman reader that I embrace the heroine just as much as I do the hero. I want my heroines to be as dynamic and fully-actualized as the hero. Unfortunately, Ivy failed to live up to this. Granted she moved on after Maze left for Japan. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a primary ballerina, but it felt like an afterthought, and I blame that on the brevity of this book. I wanted more Gelsey Kirkland/Suzanne Farrell/Peter Martins/George Ballanchine type struggle. I wanted to feel the beautiful agony and ecstasy of en pointe, the blood, sweat and tears. I wanted to be in her head as a dancer. And I wanted for her to have had a sexually autonomous life after Maze. No, she didn't have to be Sex in the City, but it just bothered me that Maze was allowed to have other physical relationships but not Ivy. I know, I know, but this kind of dynamic just reinforces rigid gender roles. And (view spoiler)[ for someone who seemingly gave her all to make it to the top, a devastating foot injury which may end her career didn't seem to mean as much as having Maze back in her life (hide spoiler)] . In my view, Ivy was also far too quick to forgive Maze's disappearing act. Maze was a great character as I expected. I was invested in his story because of how real and flawed he was. That he had secrets but was willing to protect the woman he loved. He also had a family of sorts and that helped flesh him out as well. My only caveat with him is secrets, even those meant to protect, aren't always a good idea, especially when one is living on the borderline of legal and illegal. I'm definitely going to read the next book and maybe...hopefully I get to have the Ivy that I know is lurking beneath the surface.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review Warning potential chance to spoil. Rating: 2.5 stars I almost gave up on this book when I first started. It wasn't doing anything for me at all, folding my laundry was exciting me more. I know that sounds harsh, but to quote Miss Cyrus: The writing at times was irksome, "Sure 'nuff we found it". I don't normally nit pick like that but it annoyed me. The first part of the story had me shaking my head, because I'm like who does that. Who just takes I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review Warning potential chance to spoil. Rating: 2.5 stars I almost gave up on this book when I first started. I don't normally nit pick like that but it annoyed me. The first part of the story had me shaking my head, because I'm like who does that. Who just takes their picture with random people they don't know. Someone who was watching you and your friend dancing on the beach? I don't care how "hawt" the person is, its just, I don't know, weird (and I like weird) maybe creepy is a better word. By the way this isn't going to be a negative review of The Ballerina & The Fighter, because it did improve story wise. I wanted to not give up, folding laundry could wait a little longer. The writing was still a little irksome for me but it wasn't standing out to me as much. So yay! The Ballerina & The Fighter is told from two different point of views, both Maze and Ivy's. Starting when they were teenagers meeting for the first time in the Summer before both heading off to peruse their perspective paths in life. A summer that was both wonderful and heartbreaking for Ivy. Memories that eventually lead her to push Maze out of her life. After many years have past the book switches to present day. Both are successful in their careers Ivy, a Prima ballerina and Maze, who has never lost, a match is one of the top fighters of mixed marshal arts. Their lives, only connecting through texts that only occur on key dates and Google searches. But one day that all changes. Maze keeping track of Ivys career takes in one of her shows, in fact buying out the box so he can watch it alone. Never been able to get her out of his thoughts even though it's been many years. Potential, there is so much potential for this. After the initial hump of ugh, the story held me. It was sweet, sad, suspenseful. I can see why people have rated higher. To me it was an okay read. I'll check out the blurb for the next book because well with that ending there HAS to be one.

This book was a fun and very short read, only about 141 pages.  I liked this book because well Ivy the main heroine in the novel was well passionate about dancing.  Sometimes in fighter romance books, the girl doesn't have any passion except for the love that she feels for the main dude. Not so much the case.   If you are a lover of fighter romance as I am, you know the drill... insta love, damaged man... well this wasn't really the case here.  They both had tragedy and found ways to fill the void caused by the tragedy.  This was a fun read and I enjoyed every moment. I liked Maze he isn't my favorite main male but he isn't my least favorite either (ahem Christian Grey ;) ) This is the first book I have read by Sinclair and I can certainly say I will continue to read her.  She is very talented in writing passion. Oh and the steam factor??? Well it was certainly hot.   Maze wasn't overly alpha which was also great. Overall this is a great fast read and you will not be disappointed if you need a little steam on a raining afternoon :)

This was.... Awesome? I think I want to say. Like my stomach was in knots the entire time because I just knew something horrible would happen. I won't give it away but be prepared to be in knots. Also, it is almost like there is a cliff hanger.... Like... Well it ended, and then there was a phrase I couldn't get out if my head that made it seem like there was more coming! So yay!!!!!!!! Seriously, I need more from the story but what I got made me feel extremely content. Great story!!!!!

I loved it! I loved Maze, he made me swoon! Despite the punctuation and grammar error *as if I'm native*, but seriously, it sometimes bothers me to read a lot of writing error in a nice read, I enjoyed Ivy and Maze. I enjoyed the storyline, though I could care less about the Triad and mafia thing, I could feel the chemistry between them. Looking forward to read the sequel!

The Good: -The leading heroine was a POC and it was refreshing to know that this type of character can absolutely work out in the YA/NA genre -Some ins and outs of the professional ballet world was discussed and obviously I always find that so fascinating. -The final fight was awesome to read. The Not so Good: -The romance felt WAY too rushed in the beginning. I was worried that the MMA/Ballet aspect was just a small character trait and that the romance would be 100% the plot of the book. Of course, the romance was obviously a large part of it, but it seemed brushed off in the beginning. I suppose the rushed romance was to reinforce that this was a summer fling turned serious romance, but I just felt as though the development was poor. -The "life changing" event in Ivy's life (where she blamed herself (I don't want to get too spoilery!)) seemed so out of place and it didn't seem to affect her too much towards the end of the story. -Dante seemed rather pointless to the story. I forsee another love triangle which doesn't surprise me. -I wish there was more insight to Ivy and Maze's everyday lives as a ballet dancer and a MMA fighter. It would have made everything feel more real. Overall, I enjoyed the quick read. Once I got to the "present day" moment, I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to the next book (if that happens) to see how the rest of the plots unfold. It could have been better though; I give it 2.5 stars.

Even though I know I should." Maze also gives Ivy the 411 on men and condoms, "actually no. Contrary to what you may think men don't always have sex on the brain or are just waiting for an opportunity to get some. Mostly.. And yes I always use a condom when I have sex, and I wasn't planning on it anytime soon. But I just need to make you feel good right now, make up for not saying goodbye to you last time I left." He paused. "Unless you want me to go get some. On second thought that's a good idea." He's caring towards his girl, "s***! My baby was hurting." Other than me thinking something was missing from this book is was a great read.

I received this book for free for an honest review. This book was ok. Aside from some grammatical errors, that were annoying, it just didn't seem to hold my interest. The idea for the story is good, and I love fighters, so I was ready for a book I couldn't put down. But I found I was not at all emotional connected to these characters. There was not enough character development and it was hard to feel anything for these people. The initial connection when they met at the beach was not bad, it had a little teenage angst, but then it just fizzled from there. The drama was not that dramatic and not much really happens. She has one performance and he has one fight that is described in detail, although not that exciting. The rest was just blah. Maze has potential and I could see myself liking him, but there just wasn't any oomph! I didn't hate it, but there's nothing to recommend either.

This is an ARC review I really liked this story and I desperately wanted to read this as I love a story especially one with a hot fighter! But unfortunately I found this story lacking in areas and didn't think it flowed as fluently as it could. I absolutely loved maze and especially older maze, ivy I thought is a great character and really likeable. I didn't find myself emotionally connected to this or the characters but even still it is a great story! Wow really good read from the start to finish. I really didn't know what to expect going in, and didn't realize this was an IRR so I was pleasantly surprised upon realizing it was. Ivy and Maze had such a passionate romance even as teenagers. I could feel the connection between these two jumping off the pages from their very first meeting on the beach. This has the making to be a great series and I am anxious to see what happens with these two next.

Ok I read a bunch of mixed review for this book. But I never pay attention to review. What someone may like I may not and vice versa. So I loved it ! Ivy and Maze both I got both of their characters on so many levels. Plus I believe those kind of connections do happen. Sometimes you meet someone and you have electricity physically emotionally and mentally. Now that I'm done I can't wait for more. Great Book !

This is the first book I've read by Ursula Sinclair... I kinda like it... I would have like some angst on my book, but this one is a smooth easy read... both main characters are consistent and non irritating.... no whiney female... no over the top possessive alpha... Maze is hot... Ivy is sweet... they are perfect together.... And oh, it's a cliffhanger... I'm hoping the next book would be hotter, intense and everything!

This started out kinda slow for me. When in fact it probably wasn't. It did pick up on the present part and it was good but it never really grabbed me. There was some action and there is more to Maze than you think. which was good but I kept waiting for something to happen and it never did by the end of the book. I know there are at least two more books but I'm not in a rush to read them .

It started out too YA-like for me. I wasn't emotionally involved with the characters at all. I love the concept of this book and the characters were great, but the execution fell short. Not much character development and plot wasn't realistic enough. If I were more emotionally invested, I would have loved it. Ah, disappointed. I love ballet and MMA. What a gorgeous concept :(

Eh...this one just didn't work for me. Some flaws in the story and editing, and I couldn't connect with the characters at all, didn't understand why they were supposedly so "connected" and "in love" with each other. I almost marked it as a DNF, but did decide to carry on, though I wasn't all that interested. The idea seemed promising, but for this reader at least, the execution of it fell short.

I was given a copy of the book for an honest review. This book was way over the top for me and I found myself skimming the last half of it.
