I am a book addict, especially those books with Nordic knitting patterns. Often, I buy the book, look at the patterns, then selve the book for another day. I purchased this book and I have knit several things already and plan to continue knitting most of the patterns. What a great book - the patterns are easy to follow and the finished projects are professional looking. I love to carry my iPad around town in its own Norwegian sweater!! People stop and ask me where I got it! I look forward to many happy hours creating more projects from the Knit Nordic book. I have personally recommended this book to friends and local knitting stores. The projects are small enough so that the process of knitting Nordic patterns is accessible to many knitters that might otherwise become overwhelmed by knitting a full sized adult Norwegian pattern. With success from the projects in this book, knitters can easily move on to bigger projects that use stranded knitting to create knitting motifs. Highly recommend this book for those looking to reduce their stash, learn to knit stranded/colored knitting more confidently, or for the knitter who wants to take a break from the big projects and get some seriously cute Christmas projects done --- in time for Christmas! No IOU's this year!!

This is such a user-friendly knitting book! I've always wanted to take up nordic knitting so this book was of interest to me. I consider myself to be an experienced knitter and have seen a lot of different knitting books. What I liked about this book were the easy-to-understand instructions, the gorgeous photos and the wide variety of projects, from iPhone covers to sweaters. Whole balls of yarn side by side do not give the correct contrast when used in a nordic knitting project. Take a picture and look at it in black and white so that you can see the contrast. Also, nordic knits are very warm because they are insulated due to the double layer of yarn. There was a helpful knitting needle conversion chart as well as a glossary of terms. I highly recommend this book to knitters of all levels. I would love to have this in hard copy.

I reviewed this book for NetGalley. This is a very useful and fun knitting pattern book. Ms. Oftedal takes four classic Norwegian sweaters (the Setesdal sweater, the Fana cardigan, the Marius ski sweater and the Voss cardigan - she kindly includes discussions of their dominant stitch patterns, designs, history and place in Norwegian culture) and adapts and evolves these classics into creative and approachable modern patterns. I really like these patterns and her approach to updating traditional styles. The garments and accessories are usable and fun (everything from attractive sweaters to hotpants to IPad covers). The instructions are very clear and concise. Most knitters of any skill level should be able to follow them. The photography is beautiful, with excellent photos of the finished knitted items interspersed with lovely Norwegian landscapes. I highly recommend this book. Very well done!

This book is so well put together and so user friendly I loved it! I am the most novice of novice knitters and I found it super easy to read and understand. I'm not quite capable of pulling these off yet but I now have something to definitely look forward to while I get more comfortable with knitting. (I mean technically I *could* do these but I know they'll look bad in my hand right now!) This book was styled so nicely too! So not only was it great to read it was also really great to look at! It wasn't intimidating like some crafting books can be to beginners. Not to mention to color charts for projects, that's a really nice touch. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in this adorable aesthetic if they're looking for fun and practical projects. I can't wait until I can try these in earnest!

I'm only learning to knit, and have always admired the Nordic patterns and designs. This is a charming little hardcover book which gives a background history to each of the patterns used and several projects for each, with a listing for difficulty for each item and lush photographs. Even if i never learn to knit, this book is lovely for the history and photos alone. I'm only learning to knit, and have always admired the Nordic patterns and designs. I don't know that I'll knit many of these actual projects, but the ideas and charts for the traditional patterning are very inspiring and I'm sure I'll use them frequently.
