I really enjoyed this book. It started out intense, and kept my interest until the last page. Katherine's whole world had changed in a blink of an eye. She lost her sister, and became the sole caregiver to her 4 year old nephew Noah. Her nephew had never gone to a pumpkin patch before. It was the perfect way to spend the day. One moment she was taking his picture while he was climbing on a huge pumpkin, the next moment she, and her Noah were being kidnapped. The kidnappers left Katherine when I really enjoyed this book. The kidnappers left Katherine when she got tangled in barbwire, and took her nephew from her. Katherine begged, and pleaded, and screamed for them to let Noah go. She screamed that he needed his his medine. Noah was ashmatic, and without his medicine he could die if he had an attack, and didn't have his inhaler. Caleb found Katherine on his ranch in a bloody, tangled mess. Katherine didn't know if Caleb was a good guy or not. She may be stuck in wire, and bleeding, but she was going to defend herself. I love her spirit. She found a stick to use in case she needed it. There was an instant attraction between Katherine and Caleb. I loved the way the authour allowed time for the friendship, and romance to grow throughout the story. Katherine and Calab worked together to find out who was after Katherine, and why. The action, suspense, and romance was excellent! I would recommend this book, if you like action books with a touch of romance. I'm going to give you a few sample of the book... Sample from chapter 4 - She was becoming accustomed to being this close to him. It spread warmth through her, and she felt a pull towrd him stronger than the bond between necleons in an atom. His quiet strength made her feel safe. Sample from chapter 5 - A shower of bulets descended around them at the sme time Katherine opened her mouth to warn them. Before she could think or move, she felt the impact against her chest. Sample from chapter 6 - "It'd take one big secret to bring on what we faced today." "Or one powerful man." "Your sister made a big enemy out of someone important. The question is who has this much influence? This Kane guy?" "I have no idea. It'd have to be someone who has the ablitly to make permanent accidents happen. Send men at a moment's notice to erase people."

Deep down, Caleb knows that there is nothing dishonest about Katherine and his feelings for her are real, even if they happened so soon. Katherine's insecurities magnify when Noah is kidnapped without his essential asthma medication leaving her utterly distraught. With the handsome rancher's help, Katherine begins to see the light at the end of the dark tunnel and she opens her heart and gives her trust to Caleb. Who could possibly have kidnapped Noah and why? The kidnappers are demanding a file that Katherine has no idea about. What possibly could her sister have been involved in that would merit Noah's kidnapping and the threat to end his and his aunt's lives? Those questions and so many more are answered in this fast paced romantic suspense by Barb Han. RANCHER RESCUE by Barb Han is my introduction to this author and I am very happy to have read this book and now know about Ms. Han. RANCHER RESCUE is a great read. Caleb and Katherine are strong and interesting characters and I completely feel for their dilemmas. The mystery of who has Noah is exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat. I am looking forward to much more from Barb Han and I recommend RANCHER RESCUE to any Romantic Suspense readers.

Typical Harlequin. Rugged, handsome alpha male. Beautiful, intelligent female. It's an "Intrigue" so there is suspense and chase scenes. They have the best sex of their lives, realize that they're soul mates and get together at the end. What I liked: It was brain candy - the kind of book I read while riding the bus or on a coffee break at work. Short chapters, easy reading. Sexy where it needed to be. Unrealistic, but satisfying conclusion. What I didn't like: This genre tends to focus on the Typical Harlequin. Rugged, handsome alpha male. Beautiful, intelligent female. However, I thought one of the secondary/minor characters was poorly treated (Note SPOILER ALERT). The nosy old woman who was the female leads landlady was conveniently killed in stray fire. Don't worry though - her little Havanese Dog lives and gets adopted by the on-the-run lead characters. Heaven forbid something happen to a cute little dog. Old woman who no-one wants to have sex with anymore - they can go down with a bullet - it won't stop our protagonists from getting naked and having the best sex of their lives a little later. This is suppose to be fluff reading and I shouldn't be thinking about social commentary while reading an escapist romance novel - but there it was - I noticed the the disregard of an older woman - for me - it took away from the enjoyment of the book. This ain't literature - it's a Harlequin Romance. It served it's purpose.

Barb Han has a unique gift for placing strangers into intensely dangerous situations with little or no resources and allows the story to unfold. The attraction between Katherine and Caleb went beyond the physical. While Caleb was very heroic, I loved Katherine’s strength as well. It was hard for her to accept the helping hand of this handsome man due to her past, just as it was hard for Caleb to reconcile with his mounting feelings for her because of his. In the end, they made a great team who were destined to be together. Readers of romance and intrigue will love Rancher Rescue. I look forward to more from this author.

A rancher who steps up and helps an injured woman? Who could resist. Ms. Han knocked this one out of the park. Katherine and Caleb are from different walks of life but come together to rescue her nephew. With few clues and lots of danger they weave through the maze while falling in love. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. This was one of the worst books I've read in a while but I did manage to finish it. The plot wasn't believable. Noticing the color of her panties & being turned on by it was gross, under the circumstances. I couldn't get invested in the characters and the ending wrapped up a little too neatly & too quickly. It seems I'm in the minority & that's okay.

I'm glad I only paid 49 cents for this book at a thrift store. Struggled to stay interested. I just didn't connect with the hero or the heroine. There was just no depth to them. Especially the heroine. And after all the trouble the hero goes through to get her to a safe place, she just blithely walks into danger and lets the bad guy capture her. The hero rescues her, of course, a mere three and a half pages later, and it was completely anticlimactic. The hero also kept talking "deadpan", as did I'm glad I only paid 49 cents for this book at a thrift store. Struggled to stay interested. I just didn't connect with the hero or the heroine. He would say something deadpan, or in a deadpan tone. But they're just making a serious statement, in the middle of a serious situation, in a serious voice. Maybe I don't understand the meaning of deadpan? I mean, isn't that where someone says something absurd and not in keeping with the mood of the current situation, but in a super serious voice to comedic effect? But before all the above happened, this passage just made me groan: "My first big sale was a beautiful paint horse. The man who'd sold him to me when he was a pony said he tore up the ground like no other." Ugh.

Katherine Harper's life changes in the blink of an eye. Her nephew has been kidnapped, and she's been left behind to deal with consequences. The child's abductors are adamant that she knows about several secrets her deceased sister was keeping. Secrets they'll gladly kill for. Granted, they won't do anything to Noah. Not yet, anyway, but they've made it quite clear that they won't take no for an answer. When Caleb Snow comes to her rescue, Katherine isn't sure as to what to think. Not yet, anyway, but they've made it quite clear that they won't take no for an answer. When Caleb Snow comes to her rescue, Katherine isn't sure as to what to think. Part of her wants to trust him, while another part of her wants to turn tail and run. The kidnappers made it clear that she wasn't to involve anyone in what's going on. Not even the police. Yet she can't help but to feel that Caleb is just a little trustworthy. Determined to get to the bottom of things, Katherine delves into the secrets behind her sister's existence. Though she's not exactly sure as to what she's done, she knows she'll need to fill in the missing pieces if she's to make sense of the situation she now finds herself in. Her nephew's captors refuse to believe that she knows nothing about her sister's life. In their mind, her sister confided everything to her, and gave her the means to keep Noah safe. Sadly, that's far from the truth. Refusing to sit on the sidelines, Katherine throws herself into the case itself. If she's to succeed in bringing Noah home, she'll need to do some extensive digging. Though she's not sure if she truly wants to know what her sister has done, she knows she has no recourse but to do as the kidnappers have asked of her. Noah's life is on the line, and there's no way she's going to let him come to further harm. With Caleb by her side, she knows she'll be able to weather the storm coming her way. This being Valentine week, you may want to pick up a juicy romance novel with a mystery wrapped around it. I highly recommend Barbara Han's "Rancher Rescue." Katherine and Caleb come together when she stumbles upon his ranch caught in brambles and wire after strangers kidnap her young nephew. Both are wary at first; neither believes the other is telling the entire truth. Yet the truth is simple: after delivering her son into her sister's care, Katherine's only kin disappears without explanation. Both are wary at first; neither believes the other is telling the entire truth. Yet the truth is simple: after delivering her son into her sister's care, Katherine's only kin disappears without explanation. Then someone takes the boy. Caleb wants to help Katherine, even though he's steeled his heart many years ago against any soft feelings. He tells himself it's the right thing to do. And Katherine has attachment issues herself. It is said that if a child gets proper attention and affection when young, they will be more likely to form stable adult attachments. But if one, or both in Katherine's case, parent withholds affection, the adult child will do one of two things: become needy and possessive or just the opposite, keeping everyone at a distance. The kidnap plot kicks in and keeps the story moving, but the internal emotional wounds and needs of Caleb and Katherine are what make the reader feel deeply for these would-be lovers. Will they overcome their tragic pasts and solve their present dangerous dilemma to find a future together? The stars are aligned against them, but then again, love makes all things possible.

Not as good as most harlequin intrigue books. Good basic plot, but filled with inconsistencies and a lot of repeated text. The fact that a 4 year old child was kidnapped seemed to be an after thought to the main characters except for the very start and end of book. They were too busy having sexual thoughts to think of the child. To much inappropriate ass grabbing (example: in front of a homeless man, standing in the middle of the police station parking lot). It was very hard for me to put this book down. It had everything a good book needs. A sexy hero, a beautiful lady in distress, a cute kidnapped kid, a nasty bad man and an adorable dog. I was in suspense the whole time. I've always loved on-the-run type books and secret cabins no one knows about. This is my 2nd book by Barb Han. I would recommend her books.
