Lots of delicious sounding International recipes (I haven't tried all of them yet). Most of them have instructions for browning first, but I find that just isn't always necessary. Everything can usually just go into the slow cooker all at once with excellent results; however, read through the recipe first and use your judgment. For instance, for the stroganoff, the cornstarch and sour cream must be added during the last 30 minutes. I have a lot of cookbooks and was impressed with the variety in this one, as well as the easy instructions, and I always appreciate good photos (which this book has.) I've been frequently using my slow cooker for over 50 years and love that I can prepare a meal in the morning and forget about it until dinner time.

Not really practical recipes. If I brought the majority of these to the dinner table, my kids would mutiny. It all sounds rather good, but ingredients for many make it far less than convenient. If you're looking for whole food cooking for the average family, pass this one up.

Surprisingly inspiring given how many horrifying slowcooker recipes there are out there. Can't wait for winter to get my slow cooking back on.

I received the book in a giveaway. Thank you! Was looking for ideas for my slowcooker, as I use it mostly for a basic chicken recipe. The book offers good variety of recipes, from soups to desserts, all illustrated appetizingly with well described stages of prep & cooking. Each recipe comes in 2 versions, regular & slow cooked. I must say that slow cooking in my mind is something that requires a few ingredients thrown into a slow cooker (fast prep) & then it slow cooks it for hours. I must say that slow cooking in my mind is something that requires a few ingredients thrown into a slow cooker (fast prep) & then it slow cooks it for hours. Here many recipes offer many steps of cooking before the slowcooker button is hit, which makes them not too different from regular cooking version next to it. I personally regard slow cooking as time saver, so this does not offer it in many recipes. But it does offer a substantial variety of dishes. I already tried a few soups & chilli, must say that flavor wise it was not amazing, good or ok, but did not feel like I MUST repeat this. Still continue to try more recipes.

As a "serial comper" I enter competitions with a prolific scattergun approach and the few times I "win" a prize I feel obliged to make use of it or as with books give them the a fair chance. "It's a recipe book" !!! Lots of great recipes, bright and tasty looking pictures, easy to follow recipes (tried a few, "breakfast curry" wow ). What's not to like.
