RATING 4.5 STARS The Rancher and the City Girl is the very first book I’ve ever read by Joya Ryan. I have to admit that it’s the cover that drew my attention at first. It’s pretty widely known that I can’t resist a sexy cowboy story and when combined with a cover like this, how could I resist. Being a new to me author, I was apprehensive but oh my gosh, I fell in love with this one. First, we have Tripp Montgomery. He is a single father and his adorable little six year old daughter, Gracie, is his world. He runs his ranch along with his two best friends, Cash and Bo, who also help him with Gracie. Gracie’s mom left them when Gracie was a baby. Tripp will never put his baby girl in that position again to be abandoned by a woman. So, he doesn’t date. Tripp is everything you might fantasize that a real cowboy is, well mannered, wears a Stetson, and of course, those sexy wranglers. But he is so much more than a cowboy. He’s a daddy, and thinks nothing of watching Frozen over and over or flipping pancakes in an apron for a fund raiser for his daughter’s girl scout troop. He’s perfect. Well, almost. Charlotte Gram is a freelance web designer and is living in Los Angeles. She hasn’t been able to get hired on to a large company yet so is having trouble making ends meet on her own. Her grandmother lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming and has a small fifty acre ranch. But her grammy has broken her ankle and requires surgery so since Charlotte is her only relative, she is going to spend the summer helping her grammy run the farm. But, Charlotte doesn’t know a single thing about country living. This woman was amazing. She tackled every job with gusto with a little help from YouTube. Picture if you will Charlotte sitting in front of a cow that needs milking with her phone running a how to video showing her what to do. Not only did Charlie succeed though, at helping her grammy, she excelled. She was even making lists of things she wanted to improve on. She felt a sense of peace on the farm that she didn’t feel in the city. It felt like home. And the sexy cowboy who’s land was adjacent to theirs and his adorable little girl might have had something to do with that. On her first night in Cheyenne, Charlie and Tripp met and agreed to a one night stand, no strings, no regrets. And oh my gosh, was it ever a night to remember. So both Charlie and Trip were shocked to realize that they would most definitely be seeing each other again, that it would be hard to avoid each other. Soon, though, they didn’t want to avoid each other. Their attraction grows and deepens, as does Charlie’s feelings for little Gracie. But Charlie has no idea about how to be a mother. Her own parents abandoned her. So how could she ever be what Gracie needs? This book just stole my heart, both Tripp and Charlie both were so afraid of their feelings but they were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was hotter than hot. They were both longing for a family, for a happy ever after, it just took them both a bit to realize it. “Was this what happiness felt like? A calm easiness with another person? She liked it. Liked that Tripp, and his home, and his bed, were warm. All the time. That felt like home.”

Did I mention that all three men are sexy AF and looks good in a pair of Wrangler jeans? Ummm, do I have your attention now because in Joya Ryan’s newest release, The Rancher and the City Girl, she has me eager in finding and wrangling myself a cowboy. Sweet single dad romance for some reason always seem to be my jam. For some reason, I find myself practically always devouring these type of tropes. Maybe it’s the fact that I love reading about those single dads who you know have good hearts and intentions when it comes to raising their kids. And in The Rancher and the City Girl, the number one girl in Tripp Montgomery’s heart has always been his baby girl, Gracie. Ever since Gracie’s mother left, Tripp has been raising Gracie with the help of his two best friends Cash and Bo as all three men run and manage a cattle ranch. With work and taking care of Gracie, Tripp’s love life is nonexistent even though he is one of the town’s most eligible bachelors. Charlotte Gram is a freelance web designer from California who is in town visiting her grandmother, who is recovering from surgery. On her first day in Wyoming, Charlotte runs into car trouble and it so happens that Tripp was there to help her out. So when Charlotte and Tripp decides to meet up later that night at a local bar, things begins to heat up. Both are wildly attracted to one another and so when they both decided on a one night stand since what are the odds of them meeting again. Well the odds are in their favor as it turns out that Charlotte’s grandmother happens to be Tripp's next door neighbor. Maybe he didn’t have to choose between being a father and being a man. Maybe he could have both. Have a woman who loved Gracie and him. A woman like Charlotte.” Staying away from Charlotte proved harder since every time Tripp saw her, he had so many dirty thoughts running rampant. But when Charlotte accidentally meets his daughter, it scared Tripp because he doesn’t want his daughter to get hurt and form an attachment with Charlotte. Well Gracie couldn’t stay away from Charlotte as these two easily formed a friendship and soon Tripp and Charlotte found themselves forming a different kind of relationship. A relationship that was transitioning from passion into something of the forever kind. But what happens when Charlotte must return back to California, will Tripp be able to let her go? Or will this city girl trade in her designer heels for some cowboy boots and wrangle herself a rancher? The Rancher and the City Girl was a sweet, sexy, and sultry romance that had that Western cowboy charm. Maybe it’s the simplicity or maybe it’s Gracie and her sweet nature, or just maybe it’s Tripp Montgomery. Well either way, I like to think it’s the culmination of all three as to why this book was an amazing read. Joya did a fantastic job balancing romance and real life emotions especially when it came to Tripp and Charlotte. So if you are looking for a sexy and entertaining read that was hot, romantic, and adorable then I highly recommend you to read this book. Trust me Joya Ryan never disappoints as her stories always have heat and heart. Joya Ryan

Cute, fast read. 3rd Person POV. I got this on impulse. I enjoy the western theme: In this case: Wyoming present day. It was a sorta Full House on the Wyoming prairie story. Charlotte & Tripp's meeting was hot & very sudden- insta lust. (Did I miss a prequel?) Hmm. Tripp is very protective of daughter Gracie, so Tripp meets Charlotte in random locations. I'm not saying there's a lot of sex, but per page, I would say so. I think that I liked Charlotte a little better than Tripp. Charlotte was pretty much on her own until she came to stay w/ Grammy & then met Tripp. Charlotte was determined to help out and learn what she didn't know. Which was a lot. The sex scenes were hot, but came out of left field-like uh... horny teenagers. What's a single dad to do? Tripp gave mixed signals. Did he really want Charlotte? Was he just waiting for her to leave? Gracie was cute & not too cutsie or OTT adorable. Tripp was often grumpy, it was lucky that there were fun uncles like Cash & Bo to keep Gracie nice and cheerful. I counted Tripp calling Charlotte "darlin" 27 times. Hint: I'm sure that she would like you to say her name at certain key moments. I'm sure that there are books about Bo & Tripp- I'll have to check out. PS, Grammy was funny. 3.25 stars

It was fabulous. So well written, so addictive and so swoon worthy! It was such a feel good read! A sexy single dad Cowboy and a sweet and sassy city girl suddenly finding herself deep in country life. We are very excited about this series of standalones! “I don’t want to bring stress to your situation.” “Oh, you’re far past that, darlin’. You stress me out exceptionally on a daily basis.” We fell head over heels in love with Tripp, the luscious cowboy and fantastic dad, friend and rancher; he has all the qualities that make us swoon. Raising his daughter, Gracie on his own with the help of his two best mates he’s wary of letting women in, not wanting his daughter to be hurt again nor his heart broken. So when he meets Charlotte, who looks like a fish out of water in their town, he knows it’s got to be a one night deal only. It just can’t be anything more. ‘Was this how cowboys got their ladies in Wyoming? Lay them out in their truck behind a historic building and eat them for dinner? If so, she could get on board with how things were done around these parts.’ This story was such a great read and we highly recommend it for readers wanting a couple of hours of pure romance with steamy passion. We absolutely loved it to the point of wanting more not only story but time with the characters too. We have to mention Bo and Cash who live with Tripp, too. They had us in stitches and we look forward to their stories! “Well, when you decide to be happy all the time, I’ll be here to celebrate with you,” Grammy said. What a sweet, hot, steamy read! I absolutely loved this book. Tripp’s wife left him when their daughter was just a baby and he’s been determined to never let another woman come into his life. They will only leave again and he refuses to expose Gracie to that kind of pain. When he has a one night stand with Charlotte he never expects to see her again. Of course if he didn’t, the story would end there, but he does and each time they meet the sparks fly and their connection grows stronger. What a sweet, hot, steamy read! Charlotte and Tripp are two people who have built up walls to protect themselves against those that would leave them. It was interesting that they both suffered from the same fears. I was curious how the heck either one would ever overcome their past and step into the future. The solution was perfect for both of these characters and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect ending. There was one moment when Tripp played the alpha-hole card and I wanted to smack him with it. However, Bo, a great secondary character, set him on the path to finding the answer. I will absolutely be looking forward to his story. Because really, Bo. It must be written. If you’re looking for a nice, rather quick read that is full of fun, laughter, sexy times and some angst, this is the most perfect book. "The Rancher and The City Girl" is Tripp and Charlotte's story. Tripp is a divorcee who stays at his ranch with his daughter Gracie and two friends. He occasionally has girlfriends, but one day he comes across Charlotte- a city girl on the road, who blows him away. They give into their attraction and have a "one night stand". Next day he realizes Charlotte is the granddaughter of Mrs. Gram, his neighbor and initial avoidance gives into sweet passion. If Gracie's own mom could so easily walk away whats to keep a stranger from doing the same? But all his reasons and endless excuses for staying away from tempting city girl Charlie fly right out the window every time they find themselves together. Going in to their physical attraction is easy, its letting down his guard and letting her into his family life that becomes a tricky slippery slope. Charlie fell for Tripp the minute she laid eyes on him. He's a sexy gentleman cowboy to the rescue. When their alone. But Charlie quickly learns that theres two sides to Tripp Montgomery and he's only willing to share one with her. She only planned to stay until her grandmother got back on her feet after ankle surgery, but Charlie starts to wonder if maybe it could be worth her while to stay. If she can break down Tripps walls, Charlie's willing to grab on to him and his rag tag family with both hands. What I liked about it: Tripp and Charlie has some explosive sexual tension that a tangible thing jumping out from the pages. Their flirty first meeting and ONS was HAWT! And the heat pretty much keeps climbing the richter scale of sexy. I loved their short lived (but hilarious) love/hate relationship and the fact that their relationship didn't evolve solely around their sexual encounters. They were great together in and out of the bedroom. Tripp has some trust issues to work through and he does have some less than stellar moments of idiocy but Charlie always stands her ground and calls him on his BS when needed. She really was a great h. No TSTL moments and no doormat syndrome in sight ladies. The secondary characters were also pretty awesome. I loved Cash and Bo, aka the Uncles. Gracie was a cute kid and Charlie's Grandmother was a sassy lovable old lady. What I didn't like about it: Charlie had it right when she mentions there are two sides to Tripp. The fun sexy bachelor and the stern coldly standoffish rancher. And much like Charlie I loved Tripp when he was just enjoying his time with Charlie. When they were alone, he was a sweet considerate guy who treated Charlie like someone he genuinely cared for. But as soon as he left her, he wasn't a man who wanted a woman, he became a rigid man who too easily pushed Charlie away. I get that he had to learn to trust Charlie with his heart and most importantly, with Gracie but I hated seeing Charlie, someone who has been rejected so many times in her life by people who should have cared and loved her unconditionally, being hurt every time Tripp pushed her away. Memorable Moment: There are a few LOL moments but my favorite is still their little battle of wills after Tripp acts like a jerk when he finds out his wild ONS is a lot closer to home than he's comfortable with. Charlie doesn't let him off the hook for his freak out and I still laugh over the cow milking scene! That was just good old fashion funny. * * * ARC provided for an honest review * * * SAFETY (view spoiler)[Ages: Charlie is 30 and Tripp is around the same age. Cheating: None OM/OW drama: None Separation: A few weeks - both are celibate during their separation. Push/Pull:Trip definitely pushes Charlies away. He thinks she's only her temporarily and doesn't want to risk getting too attached. 4.5 stars So fun, sweet, and sexy! This was a charming, fast paced read that had a lot of heart and the perfect amount of heat. Loved it! Tripp and Charlotte were so great. I loved watching that heat and need grow between them. Charlotte was stubborn and feisty and I liked her fire. It was a quick and light, but a full story that I couldn't put down. I loved the storyline. This one had me at single father. Add in cowboy and it was like icing on the cake. There's enough details to keep things moving along at a brisk pace but I never felt it was rushed, just enough to keep everything moving along perfectly. Love the sparks flying. It was entertaining and sexy, and there was a nice bit of emotion and playfulness too. It made for an excellent afternoon read! Loved it. Hot cowboys for the win! I think I'm becoming a fan of cowboys! This is a first read of Joya Ryan for me and I like her writing style. This was a shorter read but a perfect length for the story. I was worried I wasn't going to like Charlotte. She's a city girl heading to the country to help her grandma's farm while she recovers from ankle surgery. Usually a city girl attempting farm work is disastrous. I really liked that the author gave her a backbone to learn the work and accomplish it successfully. Her use of YouTube videos to learn how to do things was hilarious and brilliant. I loved almost everything about Tripp. He was a great single dad, very protective of his daughter. When he wasn't trying to keep Charlotte away from his daughter, he was charming and hot. I can't really blame him for trying to keep Gracie from falling for random woman, so he gets a pass for that. When he failed keeping them apart, the interactions with Charlotte and Grace were adorable. Overall a shirt, cute and fun read. ARC provided by NetGalley.

The Rancher and the City Girl is the first book I've ever read by Joya Ryan and I was not disappointed. I was hooked from the very beginning and could not stop reading it. Charlotte and Tripp may have thought that their night together was only a one night stand with two people just having fun. But they couldn't have been more wrong. They both might have thought they were both just looking for a no strings attached relationship but the heart wants what the heart wants. It also couldn't hurt that The Rancher and the City Girl is the first book I've ever read by Joya Ryan and I was not disappointed. I was hooked from the very beginning and could not stop reading it. I forgot how much I enjoy Joya Ryan's books. She is extremely talented and her books are always like little rays of sunshine. They fill all the ticks for me when it comes to enjoying a book. I loved the story of Reed and Charlotte and of course little Gracie.....I mean is there anything hotter than a single father who is also *gulps* a cowboy.....yeah I dont think so. So anyway this book is about Charlotte who arrives in small town Wyoming to help her grammy who has had a nasty accident and needs help around the farm. Charlotte is a city girl, which means her experience with cows and other farm animals is non existent. Reed is a single father, raising his 5 year old daughter after her mother walked out on them. He has vowed never to introduce other women to Gracie as he does not want her to fall in love with someone only to have them leave her and have her heart broken like he was. When Reed and Charlotte hook up for one night of pleasure, they do not realize how their lives are about to become entwined. Charlotte does not think she will ever see the sexy cowboy again and Reed assumes she is just passing through. Imagine their surprise when they turn out to be neighbors. This was a super sweet and sexy book that had me smiling from start to finish. I sure hope we get to see the uncles having a turn for their HEA as well....

I loved this book! Joya at her best!! Charlotte (Charlie) goes home to her Grams farm to help out while she recoups from surgery. She's already run into Tripp Montgomery once prior to getting to the ranch only to run into him again while out along the fence that separates their properties. She's looking for her Gram's dog. There she meets a little girl. Tripp's daughter who he literally hovers over. Since her mother left her with Tripp as a newborn Tripp vowed never to let a woman get close again. His daughter Gracie engages Charlie while out in the field and they hit it off. Tripp appears and whisks Gracie away. He runs the ranch with his brothers and they tag team looking after Gracie. What a sweetheart she is. When Gram comes home from the hospital she's bed bound for a while, and knows how hard it is for Charlie to keep up with all the farm work. Tripp helps out, Charlie is stubborn as hell, he's just as bad. When Gracie makes plans to go boot shopping and she needs real cowgirl jeans. Tripp caves in and takes them, not very happy about it, but Gracie really likes Charlotte. So does Tripp. What was supposed to be one night turns into more than that, but he's still keep a big barrier between Charlie and Gracie. Even the brothers are bothered by it, everyone speaks their mind, that's for sure. Charlie intends on going back to California when Grammy is well enough to get back to running her farm and that is in part why Tripp doesn't want Gracie attached to her. Tripp is hot as hell, but man he's a grouch too. The push and pull between these two throughout the story was over the top great. I loved them both even though I wanted to take a swing at Tripp now and then. Grammy is getting better and some things happen that Charlie reads maybe a little wrong, maybe not. Maybe it's Tripp. Maybe you need to read this amazing book and find out. It's a great story with plenty of steam, cowboys and a nut fry. Nothing more needed in life. Great book Joya!! I loved it. ** arc from Entangled in exchange for a fair review**

They both decide to give in to a one night stand since they both have circumstances that will not allow them to be able to deal with more. But as you and I know, things change. I loved Gracie, and her Gram, Bo was cute too. Now, the others annoyed me, for being a small town they were not very nice. Now I understand that Trip did not want Gracie to get attached to Charlie, because of what he had previously went thru, but he went about it wrong, and I am happy Charlie spoke up about, she wins in my book. enjoy, I sure did. I am hoping we read about Bo.

Charlie is sassy and feisty and boy don't that girl give Tripp a run for his money, “Oo, I’ll be a pain in your ***, all right.”She shoved her hands into his jeans and grabbed his ***, her little nails digging into his flesh. He hissed and effing loved it." I was in love with this book, the sexual chemistry between Tripp and Charlie was off the charts.

I would've read this one in one sitting if it wasn't for that pesky thing called work, but I really couldn't stop thinking about it until I finished it. Tripp and Charlotte were both great characters. Tripp was a little on the grumpy, closed off side and I do love that in my heroes. It's so much fun to watch them fall and begin to open up. He was such a good father and I loved the scenes with him and his daughter, Gracie. Later, it became even better once Charlotte was introduced into the equation. (Plus I can't forget Tripp's brothers. I can't wait for their stories!) This was a fun read with several feels along the way. I loved the chemistry between Tripp and Charlotte from the very start. Opposites attracted in the best possible way with these two! Their passion was off the charts from their first meeting and only got better as time went on. It was great to follow along with Tripp and Charlotte as they got to know each other and find something real. The Rancher and the City Girl was a great start to a new series I'm already obsessed with. I can't wait for the next book! I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. FAVORITE QUOTES She wasn't successful enough—yet—to be "accomplished," and wasn't creative enough to be "small-business hipster woman." She was also too blunt to be ladylike, and too prudish to be a vixen. "You wear the hat, you better be prepared to wear the man?"  Was this how cowboys got their ladies in Wyoming? Lay them out on their truck behind a historic building and eat them for dinner? If so, she could get on board with how things were done around these parts.  There was a hell of a lot of magic floating around his ranch, and it was all thanks to a city girl.

My Review: This story was actually pretty fun. I wasn't sure going into it, but I adore the setup (which means I'm anxiously awaiting the next two books in the series). Grace's mom abandoned her and Tripp when Gracie was just a baby. As a result, his two best friends, Bo and Cash, moved onto his ranch with him to help them. The other integral part of this tiny family was the grandmother who owns the farm next door that kept all the bachelors on track with how to raise a little girl. The other integral part of this tiny family was the grandmother who owns the farm next door that kept all the bachelors on track with how to raise a little girl. This is where Charlotte comes in...Charlie. She's the real granddaughter of the grandmother next door. While she's a city girl through and through, she's come to Cheyenne temporarily while grandma has ankle surgery. Charlie is a graphic designer so her work can travel...and if her elderly grandmother can manage the farm, then Charlie is certainly up to the challenge. She has YouTube for anything she doesn't know how to do. The thing is...Tripp is never planning to get involved with a woman again. Been there...done that...has the scarred heart to prove it. So he's out on the town and meets tourist Charlie. She's here temporarily...that's perfect for him. He just needs to blow off some steam and Charlie is all for the one night, too. So, surprise when the two meet at Grandma's farm the next day. I loved that Tripp's first priority is his daughter Grace. He doesn't want her anywhere near Charlie, because Charlie is easy to like and then she'll be gone, leaving Grace heartbroken. You gotta love single fathers and this book features three gorgeous guys who are wrapped around this little girl's finger. Seriously, there were swoon-worthy moments on almost every page. And Charlie was great, too. She's seriously out of her element here, but she never lets that get her down. I just really, really liked this one and am really anxious to get Bo and Cash's stories. It's a great start to what promises to be a fabulous series. I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

An amazing read!!!! Out of all the people in the world, this author brings together not only two different people but two people who want nothing to do with relationships. Or so they think... Loved how the characters kept coming back together; that they couldn't stay apart no matter how hard they tried. I enjoyed reading Tripp's battle on what he wants versus what was best for his daughter and then reading how every one of those walls eventually came down. ** ARC received from Netgalley **

I absolutely adored this book from the beginning to the end. I’m a sucker for so much of what is represented in this book. Tripp is the ultimate book boyfriend, sexy, sweet and a doting single father. He’s a little gruff at times because he wants to protect his daughter from getting her heart broken. I get that…even if sometimes I wanted to shake some sense into him. The chemistry between Tripp and Charlotte is instantly combustible. There’s no denying that they were meant for each other, despite the fact that Tripp alternates between hot and cold with her in the beginning. I really loved Charlotte too. There was something about her that felt familiar. She was strong and stubborn and wanted to be successful on her own. I loved that she was willing to help out her grandmother, even doing things that most city girls would scoff at. She stood up for herself whenever Tripp was being a jerk and she was amazing with Gracie. I just want to gush about this book and these characters, but I’m not going to. I’ll just say this is a much by book if you love cowboys and romance or just one of those two. Tripp’s friends Bo and Cash who help him run his ranch are awesome as well. Bo is hilarious and I can’t wait for both of them to get their own books. I’ve read other books by Joya Ryan before, but this one might be my favorite. I loved all of the characters and the storyline. I can’t wait to read more! Arc provided by the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review

3.5 - 3.75 STARS I'm just going to say it...... THIS WAS SHORT.... almost too short to give me that totally satisfied feeling. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. I wanted more. The story has depth but it moved so darn fast. Had it slowed down and been a bit more developed, this would have been a total winner for me. While I really enjoyed it, it left me disappointed and feeling there was missing something. I think this one was a novella parading as a full book.

Tripp Montgomery learned a long time ago that you can't trust a woman with your heart, the hard way of course, he thought he had it all and then the woman he loved walked away and left him to raise their daughter alone. If it wasn't hard enough for him to lose her, he is certain it was a lot harder for his daughter, sure he can provide her with everything she needs, but there is one thing he can't bring into the equation, a womanly touch. If it wasn't hard enough for him to lose her, he is certain it was a lot harder for his daughter, sure he can provide her with everything she needs, but there is one thing he can't bring into the equation, a womanly touch. And while Tripp knows every little girl needs a mama to teach her things, and give her the love only a mama can, he just isn't willing to travel down that road again, and let history repeat itself. But, then again he didn't account for a woman like Charlotte Gram to come into their lives... and once she does he can't seem to convince his brain and his heart to let her go! Charlotte Gram has a plan, go to Wyoming and help her grandmother care for her farm while she is recuperating from surgery, and then head back to the city where she belongs. From the beginning she had her reservations about wandering around in the country, and tending to her grandma's animals, but once she is there she starts to see the appeal of the countryside... especially the cowboy scenery! Meeting Tripp wasn't part of the plan, sleeping with him wasn't part of the plan, and staying in Wyoming to be near him definitely wasn't part of the plan... but damn if she doesn't want to do it! After a few dances at the bar, things take a hot and spicy turn, and they agree it's a one time thing... but when she runs into him again, she can't help but want to repeat what they shared... only problem is the sexy cowboy doesn't do repeats!! From the moment I started this one, Tripp had my attention, there is just something about a sexy cowboy that I can't ignore... he had the swagger, the Wranglers, the good heart, and the charming personality ... he was the total package!! With each page I read, the harder I fell for him and his adorable daughter, they were quite the pair, a pair that Charlotte just couldn't seem to escape. As much as she tried to stick to her plan, she just couldn't seem to find a reason to leave behind all she had found in Wyoming... and I have to say I don't blame her one bit!! This story warmed my heart, stirred my emotions, made a me blush, and I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of it!! Hands down one of my absolute favorites from Ms. Ryan!! Highly recommend this one, it is sure to give you the feels and have you looking at cowboys in a whole new light!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

Put those city slickers away. Or better yet, trade them in for some cowboy boots. The Rancher and the City Girl will turn you into a country folk before the story ends.
