Declan Forrester is arrogant, selfish, and insanely sexy. He was the very first boy I ever loved. Then fame and fortune turned him into a man I no longer recognized. I tried to give him everything he needed, and in return... he broke my heart. Now he’s back, and he wants to make things right. What started as love turned to hate. DNF @70% Spoilers, this book is not safe at all safety readers! Sounded interesting but of course the heroine is practically celibate while the hero gets some well into 50% of the book with random women in alleys/hotels BUT its ok bc he can't remember it sometimes or hes sad, boo hoo poor man isnt forgiven right away for being a cheating scumbag, how dare she not forgive him immediately?! Oh and funny stuff he is trying to prove to the heroine he has changed in this time, lol, even though that behavior is the exact reason he broke them in the first place, he's a cheater and the entire first half of the book is him blaming her for leaving him, how is that romance??? He even writes a song about what a bitch she is for leaving him after she walks in on a threesome!!! Also just a note to the author when you write scenes with other women and the hero make sure when he has sex with the heroine it doesn't sound exactly the same. He spoke filthy to the other women and was the exact same with the heroine, an example: Him with other women “Oh yeah. Fuck yeah, baby. Your pussy’s so goddamn tight.” (heroine saw and heard this when she walked in) “Tell me something, gorgeous. You ever had nine inches of pure rock god shoved down your throat?” “That’s right, baby. Suck it hard. Take all of it. I know you can do it.” (heroine saw and heard this right after she saw him after 10 yrs later but he's changed LOL) Him with heroine “Fuck, baby. Fuck! Pussy fits me like a goddamn glove.” “Yeah, baby. Just like that. God, such a good girl,” Why do authors do this? I don't mind him being filthy or alpha but there is no real difference in how he was with her compared to them. I need him to be different with her, and he treated her sexually almost the exact way he was sleeping with those women so its gross and its not romance especially when all she is allowed to have is a best male friend who tells her straight to her face he isnt attracted to her, but he is the one used to make the hero jealous even though she isnt allowed to have sex with him or anyone else. I hate the double standard, it infuriates me at this point. Authors are automatically going on my do not read list if they do this because I am over it. There was barely any emotional buildup to him trying to earn her forgiveness, just a bunch of dirty talk she couldnt resist bc of course we women just can't resist the good looking men who treat us like trash, one touch and who cares what he did??? Ugh.

It's dirty, nasty, gritty, choices get made that have consequences that are felt way after the buzz settles. This is one reason I love reading all stories. It reminds me that love can come out of pain, that you can rise even when the bottom is ripped out from under you. Your strength tested over and over and still you stand. Amazing. Strong. And better than you were before. This story was a testament of all those things and like every Jessica Prince book I have read..I loved it! Declan and Tatum were first loves that were destined to be forever right out of the gates but life has a funny way of creating havoc in well laid plans. The ride was worth every single stomach flip. I can't wait for the next ansty, beautiful, funny, love filled story that Ms. Prince releases. "I've been yours since you pulled up on that bike when you were seven years old and kicked me in the shin for insulting you." Check out the big goobery grin on my face. That’s my “holy crap did I love that book and I can’t wait for more” smile. I just finished Defile. I read it in one sitting—not even getting up for a cup of coffee. It was that fantastic. Declan and Tatum have been best friends since they were seven years old. They were friends then lovers then over . . . and in the ten years "I've been yours since you pulled up on that bike when you were seven years old and kicked me in the shin for insulting you." Check out the big goobery grin on my face. That’s my “holy crap did I love that book and I can’t wait for more” smile. I just finished Defile. I read it in one sitting—not even getting up for a cup of coffee. It was that fantastic. Declan and Tatum have been best friends since they were seven years old. They were friends then lovers then over . . . and in the ten years they’ve been separated, neither of them got over the other. Declan is determined to win Tate’s heart again—to prove that he’s staying around, that he’s worthy of her love, that he’s worthy of her. And he’s trying so damn hard. So hard. And he’s trying to not repeat the past, but, man, he’s just a typical man. LOL And Tate’s just as determined to keep Deck away, still in love with him or not—he’s broken her heart once, he’ll most likely do it again. She’s got trust issues. Big ones when it comes to Deck. She’s tried to push him out of her heart and her head, but he’s found his way back in. And Fate has a funny way of intervening. And maybe, just maybe, with age comes wisdom and they’ll figure out their happily ever after. But it’s going to take some serious work by them both—they need to invest in their relationship. And it’s so much fun to watch them screw up and make-up, because make-up sex is off the charts hot, am I right? Well, it is for Deck and Tate! *eye brow waggle* I loved how Declan and Tatum worked their way back to each other. Worked as adults with some life experience and knowledge of what and who they are as people, not just kids in love. I adored the dynamic between the band and Tate too. I cannot wait for Killian and Gwen’s story next! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

This story has been told many times before. Rock star gets involved with fame, drugs and women and ends up cheating. Our heroine catches him in the act, but he is so stoned he does not even notice anything. The couple separate. She hates him and he feels abandoned ... blames her. Poor rock star! He does hate songs and she is the muse. Years go by... 10 years They meet again. Some drama happens and both resume the relationship. Love is in the air! The end.

Bringing us the story of Tate and Declan, it has everything we love: second chance romance, friends to lovers, angst, fun, sexiness and sooo much love. Bringing us the story of Tate and Declan, it has everything we love: second chance romance, friends to lovers, angst, fun, sexiness and sooo much love. "Burning with passion, the intensity cuts like a knife like the blood through ny veins My Crimson gives me life I'm tangled and twisted in her, content to live in my chains Without her passion and soul, only a shell of me remains" This book was incredible, and every book I read by Jessica Prince, I love her writing more and more. The plot was solid and involving. The "couldn't-put-it-down-ness" was off the charts. I was so in love with all the characters, feeling every fear and pain they had, understanding their battles and arguments, I felt like I was really living it. I forgot about my life to live theirs. And one of the things I think it's amazing about her books is that, even if it's something I can't accept, even if it's a hard limit for me (and, trying not to spoiler, there is this huge point where the book centers that I would totally despise), the way she writes it, they way she gives us, it turns the thing not black and white anymore. It's not that now it is okay and I'm on board. But it's that now I can understand and even forgive, because there are biiger and greater things at game now (you need to read to understand what I'm saying). "'And this,' I continued, gently placing my palm between her breasts, right above her heart. 'This is mine too. I broke it once before, but I swear to God, baby. I'll never do it again'" Declan and Tate were everything. They were the goal-couple, the one you wished that was real. They were best friends, they were partners, they were completely in love, they had huuuge arguments, but that didn't kill the love they had for each other. It was that love that has been existing forever, they loved each other forlonger in their lives than when they hadn't known each other. "I've been yours since you pulled up on that bike when you were seven years old and kicked me in the shin for insulting you" They faced a lot of battles. They were put at risk and on the spot so many times. Their world shattered ann swirled to the point that they were afraid there was to turning back. But the beautiful thing is, sometimes, no matter what life brings your way, no matter your mistakes, no matter how long you go without your loved one. When it's write, when it's meant to be, when you decide your love is bigger than everything else, love always find a way back...in every way. "I'm her storm on the horizon, swirling blue and gray. I complete her, as she completes me. In every way"

You’ll sigh and swoon, you’re panties will melt, you’ll want to pull your hair out in frustration, but you won’t be able to stop reading and find out if they can find their HEA in the end. Hands down, as much as I loved Declan and Tatum, they drove me batshit crazy (which is what I said about Garrett & Gwen in my review for Corrupt ~ I’m pretty sure I’ll say that about the couple in the next book...but for now back to Declan and Tatum). Declan is all kinds of alpha AF male who loves hard and deep, but also has blinders on and doesn’t always see past how he thinks things should be. Tatum is sassy and spunky and has been from a young age. She marches to the beat of her own drum and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself, but when it comes to shaking the boat, one on which she is also riding on, things get a little muddled. Their second chance journey was a rough and complicated one because of how long they’d been friends and then lovers before everything went to hell in a handbasket. There is a lot of angsty-ness that goes on, but what made it work was that they still loved each other, even when they didn’t want to. But in the end they figured things out and I love where they were at in the end. I have to give props to the author for how she planned Declan and Tatum’s story out because I think it was done perfectly, well...okay, that’s pretty damn obvious since I devoured it, but there were any number of ways it could have been started and I think the one she choose was the best. It gave a solid foundation for them and why they needed to be together. As for the rest of the CC crew. Ian, I adore, hands down. And I loved catching up with Gwen, Garrett and Liddy. Killian and Mason were definitely fun and interesting and I cannot wait to get my hands on their books! ~ Copy provided via Love Affair with Fiction & voluntarily reviewed ~

"finishing". during the separation, he was a ho and did not try and win the h over, even writing hate songs about her. first time h sees him after 10 years of separation, she hears him getting a bj. OH! and when they start talking to each other, he sleeps with OW.

I love this sexy, messy second-chance romance and adore these friends and bandmates in this series. Tatum and Declan were best friends as kids and transitioned to lovers in high school. They were the forever-kind of couple until Declan’s band hit it big and he made some horrible, immature choices. He broke Tatum’s heart, and they haven’t spoken in ten years. Now, tragedy brings them back together, and Declan isn’t going to miss this opportunity to right his wrongs and win Tatum back. He definitely has to earn her trust, and it is slow going for him to do, which makes the story believable. Tatum guards her heart, but she cannot resist the chemistry they share and decides to have a purely physical relationship with him. Although she believes she can keep it emotion-less, these two are destined to be more. Declan is the type of hero who has to redeem himself, and he does. He’s sweet but also alpha and very sexy, and he genuinely loves Tatum and regrets his mistakes. Their reunion is bittersweet, poignant and romantic. Don’t miss Defile and the Civil Corruption series. Based on their appearances in Corrupt, I knew that Declan and Tate had a long and complicated past, but wow, I wasn’t quite prepared for exactly how heart wrenching it would be to experience their story! I really enjoyed the fact that the author delved into their past in great detail in order to give us the full story. Because of that, it was easy for me to become emotionally invested into every single feeling they experienced as friends, lovers, and enemies. At a particular turning point in this book where their relationship was inevitably going to change, I felt a pool of dread sitting in my belly because I KNEW what was coming but OH MY GOD knowing didn’t make it hurt any less! I’m not really one to read a book that involves the reason for their break up, but Jessica Prince wrote it in a way that instead of becoming angry and unable to finish, I was heartbroken yes, but also intrigued and hopeful that somehow someway she would spin it so all would be well again. I’ll be honest, during certain times I didn’t think I’d be able to get past it, I wanted to junk punch Declan and then run him over with my car while screaming “HOW COULD YOU?!” but eventually, and much to my surprise I found myself rooting for him to win Tate back. After a time and what I thought was proper groveling I was convinced Declan learned from his mistakes and changed, and I truly believed he and Tate were meant to be. I also whole heartedly believed he never meant to hurt her. This book was an emotional experience. It left me exhausted and content in the very best way! I know for some of you the content involved may be a hard limit, I would be lying if I said it wasn’t usually one of mine as well, but I urge you to give this book a chance anyway. Trust this author to make it bearable. It’s very well written and it honestly goes with the story. Yes this book is an emotional roller coaster, but it’s so worth it and definitely not something you want to miss!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I love Jessica Prince books. Her books are well written, have huge gut wrenching scenes, hilarious scenes and fantastic banter in a close group of friends. This book is all the reasons I don't read Rock star romances. They split up after she sees him in bed with two other women and snorting coke. There are things going on that lead to that moment and possibly some may feel will excuse his behaviour but the thing that I hate and makes it hard for me to feel he will commit to the heroine and her alone I love Jessica Prince books. It's at almost 50% of the book and he is getting rid of 'some blonde' the morning after. I can accept a Hero/ heroine makes mistakes, even in the right circumstances or enough proof of redemption, cheating but when the heroine meets the Hero or in this case is back in his life I don't like him with other women esp in front of her. At the point that scene happens they are not back together and he's angry with her but still he has a scene a bit earlier with a different other woman and the heroine is so hurt. Are we honestly supposed to believe that our 'Hero' will now commit to our heroine and never stray again? I know there is more to the initial cheating than it appears but still not much time has past since 50% and 70% when he has magically changed oh and he has always loved her. It is well written as you really feel for the heroine in the scenes mentioned earlier but sometimes you just want her to end up with someone who really deserves her. I'm sorry but I felt a bit sick reading some of this. I don't think I'd have jumped in so quickly. Spoiler o/w scenes below. Here is an example. 24% after he sees the heroine again... “Hey, sexy. What’s got you smiling?” I turned from Tatum to the blonde who’d just sidled up to me and pressed her plastic tits into my arm. “Just in a good mood, sweetheart,” I answered, giving her the smirk I knew would make her panties wet. “Mmm,” she hummed seductively. “Is that so? Well, how do you feel about seeing if we can make that mood even better?” I was definitely down for that. “Tell me something, gorgeous. You ever had nine inches of pure rock god shoved down your throat?” The chick giggled like a kid on Christmas morning. “Can’t say I have.” Standing from the barstool, I downed the last of my drink and set the empty tumbler down. Then I hooked my arm around her waist and started leading her away from the party. Heroine's reaction... Just then, a brunette with scarlet lips came sauntering past with a look pointed Camden’s way that spoke to all the things she was willing to do if he gave her a few minutes of his time. I knew he caught the look same as I had when he mumbled, “Oh, I think I can find a way to fill my time,” and quickly followed after her. With a good-natured laugh and a shake of my head, I turned from watching him disappear into the crowd and headed toward my past “Maybe I just need a vacation,” I muttered to myself as I leaned against the brick exterior of the swanky hotel. I’d just closed my eyes and rested my head on the wall when a rough, gravelly sound from several feet away startled them open. Looking to my right, I noticed the shadowed figures from the other side of a dumpster. I was just about to head back inside, worried I’d stumbled upon a mugger or something, when a familiar voice spoke, sending a chill down my spine. “That’s right, baby. Suck it hard. Take all of it. I know you can do it.” Oh my fresh hell. I’d have known that voice anywhere. Bile crept up my throat as I stood frozen in place. “Uuuuuhnn,” he groaned. “Yeah, just like that. Fuck me, I’m about to come. Want you to swallow every fuckin’ drop I’m gonna give you.” I was going to be sick. There was no doubt about it. It was the very same voice I’d heard when I walked into that hotel room years back and had my life destroyed by the one man who was supposed to love and cherish me as much as I did him. At 42% he had tried to talk to her and gets shut down... so.... Lifting my head off the pillow, I glanced at my latest mistake, a chick whose name I couldn’t even remember. I’d picked her up at a bar the night before after having way too much to drink and throwing myself a pity party over Tatum, and brought her to the hotel I typically used for my hookups. I refused to go to a woman’s house to get laid, and no way in hell was I bringing a groupie back to mine, so the hotel was my only option when I wanted to get my dick wet. She placed her knee on the mattress and started crawling, naked as the day she was born, in my direction. “None of your concern.” Blowing out a frustrated breath, I laid back down and said, “Playtime’s over, sweet cheeks. Time for you to go.” Merged review: I love Jessica Prince books. Her books are well written, have huge gut wrenching scenes, hilarious scenes and fantastic banter in a close group of friends. Years later, the band hits it big and get famous. That is where the downfall to Tate and Declan's relationship starts. Fame gets to his head, as does the partying. Things happen, they break up and don't talk or see each other for 10 years. When Tate and Deck reunite, it most definitely isn't a warm, open arms welcome for either. Tate is rightfully upset about the end of their relationship, and Deck is bitter about a few things. After being forced to be around each other more, they start letting the walls they built, crash down piece by piece. I loved Tate and Deck. As stubborn as both are, they're so perfect for each other. I love Civil Corruption and am seriously impatiently waiting for Killian and Gina's book!! "

4.5 stars I'm on a rocker streak lately. This one had a second chance feel to it as well. I didn't know Defile would have a childhood sweethearts trope but I'm glad. I like those types of starts. Tatum has been tight with Civil Corruption even before they got big which is a huge plus. It all ties in with the previous storyline in Corrupt with their manager issues carrying it out to the cause of their issues and the bands. Certainly fame has it's downside and caused a rift between Declan and Tate. 4.5 stars I'm on a rocker streak lately. This one had a second chance feel to it as well. I feel in that time they also both changed again grew up as well. In order to move forward and for the band going forward they need to clear the air so to speak. Can't deny the pull they have ever since, they have something deep and it will always affect them. I appreciate that they dealt with it well and it all pieced together. Declan and Tate had something special and they made it work the second time around. Jessica Prince depicted rock stars well. Killian's story sounds good and I can't wait. *** ARC provided for an honest review ***

Defile is the second book in the Civil Corruption series and it is a fantastic followup to Corrupt. This is Tate and Declan’s story and what a story this was. His choices caused him to completely break Tatum’s heart badly and they haven’t spoken in 10 years. Fast forward 10 years and tragedy brings them back together. WOW, just the heat, the passion, the angst, the drama, the anger, the heartbreak and pain, the hope and the love that this story contains is amazing!!!! There were moments in this story that had me so angry at Declan and my heart breaking for Tatum. This is a great 2nd chance romance because when Deck sees Tatum again 10 years later, this man knows its time to get his woman back and that is what this story is about- 2nd chances and forgiveness. Tatum's strength is awesome in this story- she went thru some pretty hard and terrible times yet she did everything she could to make that her past, not her future. Declan can be a huge jerk; he knows it yet when it comes to making everything up to Tatum for the past, he is willing to do anything and that is the man I came to love in this story, not the jerk. There are some twists and turns that take this story to different places yet the ending was phenomenal. I cant wait to read the other guys’ stories--- Ms. Prince has a fantastic way of making her characters relatable and likeable even when they arent the nicest (aka Deck). She writes her stories and when reading , you are hooked and you will never want to come up for air. This is a MUST READ!!! My Rating: 4.7 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."

Of course I kinda hated it him for a certain time during their story but yeah you'll know what I mean when you'll read this great book! The next thing I loved were Tatum and Declan together! Their chemistry was just so explosive and I liked it a lot how they dealt with their problems! PERFECT BOOK Jessica Prince! I LOVED IT!!!! ♥♥♥♥

I need to know what is in the water where Jessica lives? I need to know what she's ingesting that's giving her the brain fuel to write these books, but she should bottle and sell it!

How do you forgive someone when they cheated on you? When they broke the promises they made to you? When you and the love of your life are falling apart? Can you find love with the person that broke you again? I hate cheating. If a book has cheating in it, I'm done. It gives me anxiety and hives. I once read a book with cheating in it, and had anxiety for WEEKS, and DNF, but then read the second book to make sure they were ok. I've never been cheated on, but it's a trigger for me and I start freaking out. So after reading Corrupt, I knew I had Defile waiting for me to read and I got nervous. Nowhere in the blurb does it say there was cheating. But Declan and Tatum have history, history that goes back to them being seven years old. They get together young, and Declan and the band make it big when they're still young. While Tatum is struggling to still be an individual, Declan is caving to the pressures of stardom. In Corrupt, it already says that Deck cheated on Tatum, so I'm not giving that away, but I won't say what happened. All I'll say is that I wanted to CRY SO BAD. But it didn't give me anxiety. I don't know why (maybe because Jessica Prince is amazing?) Ten years later, Tatum and Declan are in the same room together, after not being in the same room since it happened. My heart absolutely broke for Tatum, but she made the best of herself. She found who she was, and I think she needed to be away from Declan to discover that. And Deck, WHO I WANTED TO PUNCH IN THE FACE, needed to grow up and find himself in the industry. When Deck sees Tatum again, he knows he needs her back in his life: permanently. He just has to get her on board with it.  I love Tatum's strength in this book. She doesn't just forgive Declan, and it takes her awhile to talk with him about what happened. She didn't let Declan bulldoze her life, didn't let him become her life. When she did talk to him about what happened, and she decided to try and forgive him, she didn't continuously bring it up. After the worked it out, they continued to work on it. She did what she had to do to live without him, and she lived and thrived without him. Did she have insecurities? Yes. Did she let them over rule her life? No. Was she afraid? Yes. Did she get jealous? Yes, but she didn't accuse him of sleeping with everyone or bring it up to hurt him after that.  I don't know if I could be as strong as Tatum was. I'd have probably just stabbed my man.  Declan can be a huge jerk. He knows it, and so does everyone else around him. With out Tatum he was just living, but he smartened up. When he had the chance to get her back, he did. Declan had a lot of strength too. He had changed over the last ten years, some things for the better, others for the worse. He doesn't make the same mistakes twice (THANK GOD CAN I JUST SAY), but he is also able to recognize when he's being over bearing, recognize when he's losing Tatum this time around. He stops taking her for granted.  I normally hate rock star romances, but I will be continuing this series. I'm already looking forward to the next book! The guys in Civil Corruption are messed up, and I can't wait to see them stop messing up. (Plus, series like this are like double epilogues. I get glimpses into the other couples!) I'm going to shut up now, but just know that this book is absolutely amazing, and heartbreaking all at the same time.

Declan and Tatum met when they were kids. The first meeting resulted in her kicking him. He was not impressed. But when Declan arrived at school as the new kid these two became best friends. That friendship grew to include Garrett, Killian, Mace and Will. This group was tight all through their school years. Though both Tatum and Declan's friendship grew into something more. Love. And a love for music. The times these two spent together, writing songs and talking about forever even at that young Declan and Tatum met when they were kids. And a love for music. The times these two spent together, writing songs and talking about forever even at that young age. They knew what they had was special. These two blew me away. Their bond was strong. They were inseparable. And when the guys started the band it was Tatum right there beside them. There biggest cheerleader. But when they hit it big, fame and fortune has a way of changing the person you loved. And when you have a manager like Chris who is determined to keep Declan and Tatum apart it’s worse. Declan was blind to it. All he knew was that he needed Tatum beside him. She was part of him, she was his everything. When drugs and alcohol are readily available, woman throwing themselves at you it’s easy to lose sight of those around you. Declan’s love never wavered in regards to Tatum she was his one. But one night it all comes crashing down. Spectacularly. Tatum cuts Declan from her life completely. He destroyed her. Declan has no recollection of the night that took Tatum from him. Only what the guys have told him. All he knows is that with her gone part of him is missing. A part he will never get back unless she is in his life. Years later they are all brought back together again. The guys and Tatum. Though it’s not for the reason any of them thought it would be. With Tatum back in his life, Declan will use everything at his disposal to get her back. Back to where she belongs beside him. Amazing I really loved the follow up to the first book in this series and I had my fingers crossed that it would be just as good. The continuity of the storyline was spot on. The story, a second chance for the two leads was heart breaking for both of them. But also made me wonder what I’d do in that position. The steam factor a 10+. The story moved at all times, there was no pause at all. You wanted to keep turning the pages. A really enjoyable read. And has me about to dive into the third book.

I have been waiting for the rest of the Civil Corruption series ever since I read Corrupt back in September! Now we get Declan and Tatum's story in Defile. The first few chapters are the set-up to how Civil Corruption came to be, all because Tatum kicked Declan's shin when they were 7-year-olds riding their bikes. It was love at first sight, but it takes traveling an awfully bumpy road before these two get to their HEA. It was love at first sight, but it takes traveling an awfully bumpy road before these two get to their HEA. We see how their friendship grows from best friends to first kisses to first loves -- to the band's rise to fame and Declan and Tatum growing apart to, ultimately, the horrible night that breaks them up. Every moment, good and bad, gave me the feels, and I devoured this book in a single day. The book then picks up ten years later, and the storyline runs in conjunction with some events that happen in Corrupt. Even though he cheated, Declan has never been able to forgive Tatum for breaking her promise to stay with him forever; the rage he carries from their breakup led to smash hits about Tatum and has catapulted Civil Corruption to even higher popularity. Tatum was absolutely crushed by Declan's betrayal, because she not only lost her best friend and boyfriend, but she lost her band of brothers as well. When they cross paths a decade later, both are still carrying around so much anger, but Declan is still so sure that they still belong together that he hatches a scheme to make sure that he has the opportunity to prove to Tate that there is nobody else for either one of them. While he manipulates the hell out of many situations, I have to give a helluva lot of credit to Declan for not giving up! While Corrupt was solely told from Gwen's POV, Jessica Prince offers both Declan and Tatum's POVs here in Defile. I personally like getting both sides, so I hope the rest of this series follow suit. I also loved the winks to her Girls Talk series -- Tatum lives in the building where sweet Maury is the doorman, and there's an awesome scene set in The Black Sheep, Fiona and Deacon's bar. I am counting down the days until we get Killian and Gina's story in July, but I REALLY want to find out what happens with Lyla and Mason! And I really would love to see sweet Cam get a story of his own some day! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.

These guys have become my family and in the end, I figured it out along with the characters. Young love can be naive and not fully bloomed. But when you are the others half and vice versa, you will find your way back. Gah! The drama thrown and the twists and turns had me hooked to this story. The hotness that Declan brings.....AH-Mazing!!!! I was swooning and my kindle screen almost melted! I loved the new characters that we meet. "Girl Talk" girls make a quick appearance!! If you have read those series, you will be fan-girling like me! Defile had me love, hate, and the love all over again. The angst of Tate's turmoil and Deck's determination had me reading all night and finishing this morning. I love a good book that you get emotionally invested in. That does not happen a lot for me. I cannot wait for Killian's story, it will feel like I'm my breath until I can dig into his and Gina's story!! MUST READ OF THE YEAR!!!! Jessica definitely has her own unique writing style where this is not your ordinary Rock Star Romance.

Defile is book 2 in the Civil Corruption series. This can absolutely be read as a stand-alone – but seriously, don’t you want to read ALL of this author’s books?? This is one of those stories that I said I would only read for 1 chapter to get a feel for it before I went to sleep. Well just 2 more chapters. Well in for a penny – in for a pound I say and might as well finish it. Sometimes being an adult is hard you guys. From the very beginning this book has it all. I feel like this book could have taken many different paths and come to the same(ish) outcome. I’m so glad that it took the path it did. During the story, my feelings evolved and I came to understand the motivations of a certain character (another sign of a well written book). Characters are well developed with multi-layers and the story flows along nicely (so nicely that I read in one sitting). This is one of those series that there are so many rich characters that I will anxiously await the next installment of the series. This author is a one-click author for me and while every book hasn’t been my “favorite”, I’ve never been disappointed.

Defile by Jessica Prince is the second book in the Civil Corruption Series. The previous book, Corrupt is Gwen and Garrett´s story. Every book in the series can easily be read as a standalone. He broke her heart and her breakup was a nasty one. Now 10 years later he wants to make things right. Tatum was heartbroken when she found her soulmate cheating on her. She wasn´t only devastated, she was shattered in pieces and left. She build a new life, has friends and life is good. ´til her past shows up on her doorstep and the scars start bleeding again. I started reading and ideally I would say I was hooked, but I wasn´t hooked, I got angry, real angry at the hero. He´s immature, calls his cheating a mistake she has to forgive because he can´t remember - claims innocence because he had a blackout. Umm nope, big no no. And then there was Tatum. She´s a strong heroine and she knows what she wants. She wants to be happy and be near the people she loves. And she acts this way. I really loved her character. The next book in the series , Consume, tells Gina and Killian´s story.

Declan knew this firsthand and ultimately loses sight to what is important. I was worried if he was going to be redeemable and dig himself out of the hole he dug for himself. This was not my favorite of this author as I felt it was missing something. It wasn't until things got chaotic and stuff was leaked at about 75% did the book finally feel like other works that this author is known for. I will say that the glimpse of the third book of this series has me VERY excited. I can tell just in that small glimpse that it is what I am used to from this author. I would still recommend this book or any that this author writes.

Tate and Declan's story was an epic romance at it's best.  There was so much between not only these characters but between the band and her as a whole.  This book wrecked me emotionally, the connection between these two characters was so intense that when it was severed I was a blubbering mess.  I was angry and heartbroken but, I was also hopeful because I knew that after Jessica destroyed me she would also rebuild me and do it beautifully. While the main focus of this book was Tate and Declan we also got a lot of insight on the other members of the band.  I'm just as eager for Mason and Killian's stories as I was for this one.  And I've just got to say that we saw a side of "Baby Mama" Gwen that took me by surprise but, left me smiling, that woman is fierce. From start to finish this book was told exactly how it needed to be to wring out the maximum amount of emotion from it's reader.

After reading "Corrupt", and getting a sneak preview into "Defile", I was sure that I was more than ready for Tate & Declan's story. Boy, was I wrong?! Like, "Corrupt", I couldn't put it down. Boy, was I wrong?! Like, "Corrupt", I couldn't put it down. I couldn't help but sink into the pages! Best friends from the age of 7, there's always been a connection between Tatum & Declan. Becoming each other's better half seemed like it was preordained, but then, life doesn't always play nice, does it? For ten years, they've both hurt while still being hopelessly and totally in love with each other. "You've been gone for ten years. And I still don't know how I'm supposed to live without you." I can't imagine how hard it must have been for Tate, to simultaneously love and hate a man with every part of her being for a decade. It shows a strength of character that she was able to put all the humiliation aside and be able to work alongside him professionally when her heart screamed for her to run in the opposite direction. The first time Tate & Deck fall in love is sweet and cute, even. Their second try at love is tempestuous and rough. You feel the desperation and frustration, the pain and anger, and yes, the overwhelming sense of love. "I'm her storm on the horizon, swirling blue and gray. I complete her, as she completes me. In every way." This book digs a lot deeper into things we forgive because of love. It brings home the fact distance could never sever the connection your heart has with another. I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
