Commander Grace Summers has always wanted to explore space but her most recent assignment aboard the Defiance wasn't intended as a reward by her superiors. No, the Planetary Alliance want her and her fellow crew members out of the way. Far far out of the way as they're assigned to make first contact with aliens not yet discovered or known about by Earth. Raided by lizard like Vermian Space Pirates, Grace finds herself captured, caged, and forced to endure abusive conditions until the pirates are Commander Grace Summers has always wanted to explore space but her most recent assignment aboard the Defiance wasn't intended as a reward by her superiors. No, the Planetary Alliance want her and her fellow crew members out of the way. Far far out of the way as they're assigned to make first contact with aliens not yet discovered or known about by Earth. Raided by lizard like Vermian Space Pirates, Grace finds herself captured, caged, and forced to endure abusive conditions until the pirates are able to offload their cargo of slaves to auction. Zhadra, an Obosian warrior, finds himself imprisoned by the Vermians along with other aliens, some of who he's never encountered before. Females who appear fragile and defenseless yet stay strong against their captor's ongoing abuse. Knowing the ships destination and purpose, he bides his time until the time is right to escape and free the other prisoners along the way. The female who's caught his eye will probably show her gratitude in the most carnal of ways for a night or two for his efforts but then he needs to terminate her gratitude as Zhadra doesn't do long term commitments. Things change when Zhadra finds out Grace doesn't act or behave like any other female he's ever met and his planned escape now requires she get involved in the process. * * * * New series from new to me author. Premise is a planet of alpha warrior aliens who lack females to mate or procreate with. Coming across Earth females, a species Zhadra has little to no knowledge about, us Earth girls once again have to teach a breed of alpha aliens that Earth girls are not to be messed with as we kick ass. In a totally warped generalization, I liken the whole world building concept as two polar opposite species fighting the obvious as their different cultures adhere to strict male/female behaviors in that females are to be subservient to men. Think Saudi Arabia or Iran males with their total control over females meeting up with modern progressive females who dare them to try that shit on them. Grace & Zhadra. Each have baggage issues. Doesn't stop them from doing the horizontal mambo, just poses conflict in regards to any long term commitment. IMHO, the intimate scenes between the two do rise to the level of erotica, but, not to any degree that would require a fire extinguisher or icing down your e-reader before it spontaneously combusts. Was a good tickle and tease though for this reader. Secondary characters. As this is a new series the cast of characters are long as I'm sure many of them will get their own time to shine in a future installment. I do see that Zhadra's brother Brhex & Captain Keri Hampton, Grace's superior, are to be featured next. The author has included the beginning of their story in the last 10% of this book. That means Zhadra (Obosian Warriors, #1) ends at the 90% mark. Just sharing that info. My issues. Relatively new author who has published a very promising series. Though this sort of trope has been done by other authors before, I appreciated and enjoyed it. The thing is I was left wanting as there really isn't a lot of world building, detail oriented factoids, or depth going on. My thought is when a new series is presented, the author has to really get the reader to fall in love with the world they've created for the reader. Then, and only then, can I (the reader) get on board with the romance elements. It's for that reason that I felt this story was a 3.5 with a slant to 3, but, there's promise in the series and I really want to see and read more so I'm going with a 4.

3.5 stars Not too bad for a new to me author and series. Definite potential here but a little lacking in world building and character development. Grace comes off quite harsh at first, she's very defensive and does not appreciate the way Zhadra's people subjugate their women. Will continue this series to see if it fleshes out.

This was a fun story, but it was so short. Although, a lot seemed to happen in these 120 pages. One little gripe though, the cover does NOT match the description of Zhadra. He's SILVER. She is a tough woman, with a bit of sass to her. Zhadra is not interested in anything more than a fling. And he makes that known to her as soon as he starts responding to her. One of my favorite scenes is after he sees her kill one of their captors, he pulls her from her cage, wraps his hand around the back of her neck and bends to her ear and says "I will have you." Or something along those lines. I loved it. I loved that he was turned on by her strength even though he comes from a society where woman are protected in their father's homes, and don't do much of anything because men don't think they are capable, or that the even have an interest. I liked that Grace pushes back when she realizes she wants more and he doesn't. I like that she is strong enough to distance herself. I absolutely hate it when the h feels used, and pulls away and the H comes on all strong and the h is so overcome with lust she can't summon the strength or the will to say no. That ticks me off. Let the H suffer a little, make him realize he wants more. Thats what Grace does. She backs off and protects herself, and I loved it.

New world If you like sci-fi romance than this is the book for you! It has a great storyline, the beginnings of intrigue, action, romance, and strong characters. I liked Grace she was strong, sassy and no pushover to Zhadra. Zhadra while commanding was open to trying to understand Grace and Earths way of doing things. He was also hot! The support characters were interesting, fun, and made you want to learn more about them. I cant wait to learn more about this world and where the story is going to New world If you like sci-fi romance than this is the book for you! Sometimes when I'm lucky I catch a book make me live its story. I cry, laugh and love because I react with the characters and events. Unfortunately, in this book I feel nothing, there isn't any connection between the characters and me. The women were super-humans with no fear or concern when they became captive. They managed to escape magically from very strong aliens even helped Zhadra and his friend in their problems. I read more than 50% and Grace didn't remember or mention her cousin. Great Grace and her ship mates have been kidnapped from their ship. Zhadra is brought into the cell next to hers. She believes he can't understand her as she plans an escape. He forbids her to try, which just makes her mad. He doesn't understand she is a warrior too but he will. Can they find love?

Good read, hard to put down Totally enjoyed the book except the ending seemed a rush to the end. The book was rich in details was really enjoying it until it seems their was a limit on word count which means citing the story short with a readers digest short and sweet ending

Needed more to it to be an interesting story. The concept of the aliens was cool, but in the end there just isnt enough there to care about what happened. Also, covers in this series suck. Wheres the horns? Wheres the SILVER skin?! So confused lol Needed more to it to be an interesting story. An interesting story! I love the way the characters develop their relationship right from the beginning. Grace is no push over and Zhadra's high handedness were so fun to watch. It was intriguing how some of the Obosian males have to grudgingly view the treatment of their own females. I can't wait to see how the human man and women will turn the hearts and minds of the beings whom they now must coexist with. I highly recommend reading this meaty story. It was a very good beginning to a series.

Great start to a series! I love the H & H. Grace is so strong and independent. She is definitely a kick-butt take charge no holds barred woman. I think she is perfect for the Admiral. There are steamy scenes and a happy ending. The second book rocks too!! My real only issues is that the covers don't reflect the aliens. And maybe the story could have been longer but I definitely loved it!!

Semi-Comical Alien Romance Very fast paced easy read with no noticeable errors. This group of human women (and one male) are boarded and become slaves. Obsidian warriors who also were captured escape with three female crew members. Eldest son and security officer are the first to mate. Each book I believe are each their own HEA with an overall story plot.

An ok read The heroine was annoying at first, automatically assuming Zhadra was stupid and making fun of him when he didn't talk. She was apparently also the only one who didn't bother to learn about aliens despite her job as a security officer. Zhadra is apparently always horny. I could've sworn his eyes were supposed to glow silver but then they turned gold for some reason.

Grace and Zhadra Grace is a kick a as Security officer in her ship but when she a.m.her crew wake up in a cell on a pirate, they have to figure out how to escape. They end up allying themselves with the other aliens and make their escape. But they are not in known space and no one here knows how to get back home. Writing was good story was lackluster.

Good start to a new series This was a quick and a good start to a new interesting series. The pace was quick and it was filled with action, adventure, and hot steamy chemistry. I loved how there were so many strong women along with the Alpha males teaching them a lesson.
