U.S. Deputy Marshal Colton Garrett had been promoted and moved to his new station in Abilene, Texas. He hadn't been at his station for long when rumors were going around about a possible range war between groups of cattlemen near the town of Abilene. He hadn't been at his station for long when rumors were going around about a possible range war between groups of cattlemen near the town of Abilene. There were two large cattle ranches a few miles to the north of Abilene, and another on the east-central side, as well as, one to the south. After taking the time to ride to each ranch to introduce himself, and to let them know they had a U.S. Marshal stationed in Abilene, Colton learned a firestorm usually associated with range wars was close to becoming a reality. Marshal Garrett knew the job to corral any feuds between the owners would take more than just him, so he called his boss, and older brother, Chief Deputy Marshal Cole Garrett, for assistance. The task at hand was a big one, and it still wasn't clear to Colton if he and his brother could stop the impending wars. Cole didn't hesitate to get on a train headed for Abilene from his station in Austin, as he was no stranger to the harm caused by feuding, wealthy, and powerful cattle barons. Cole knew the common practice used by rich landowners would be the hiring of professional gunslingers to do their bidding, and if that wasn't enough for the two Texas lawmen to handle, there was always a cowboy or two that would try to make a name for themselves in the hope of impressing their bosses.

Great reading. I looking for a western, downloaded the sample of the first book and was hooked. I went back and downloaded the series. Plus this one. Could not stop with just one had to read them all. The story draws you in and keeps your attention. You could read just one but you miss out on the test of family stories. I highly recommend you read all of them.
