An Unlikely Amish Match was a really good story. I enjoyed watching the romantic relationship develop between Susannah and Micah, two people who definitely seemed to be opposites at the opening of the novel. They were both nice people, yet Susannah had faced challenges that forced her to grow up and make some decisions earlier than Micah had to. The author gives us a story of an Amish man who is not wanting to leave his faith, but really not ready to embrace it either. He is sent from his home in Maine to live with his Grandparents in Indiana, with the hopes he will grow up, and at 25 is he running out of time. I really enjoyed this sweet book. I loved the messages that were in it. Sometimes it takes time and maybe some life lessons to make us grow up in in a hurry. I know it did me. I don't really care for changes like that but then I don't think none of us do. I'm so glad the Lord Jesus is with us always no matter what life throws at us. He is my best friend and I love to let people know that. Life is screwy sometimes. But you know what? In a way, I'm glad it is! It would certainly be very boring if I really enjoyed this sweet book. Nature can also bring changes that people might not want but there again Jesus is the way, truth and life. We need only to ask. I think I liked Micah's grandfather the best. Tough love is what my grandma used to say. I thought his daadi was just a little I said little too hard on Micah. Susannah I can understand but really I am glad she started to open up a little. I guess it takes the right time and person to help open us up completely. I would've loved a little more on Micah's grandparents. I didn't feel like they were the great supporting characters they could've been. It's like they were there one minute and the next gone except for the scene at the hospital and even then not much. I still enjoyed the story and would recommend it to others however. There were some scenes that made me grin like a Cheshire cat and snicker too. God knows everything about us. He knows what is going to happen to is before we do!! He sees the big picture where we only see what's in front of us. I felt that He put Micah right where he needed to be. It only took him a while to realize that My thanks to Netgalley for a complimentary copy of this book. NO compensations were received and all opinions are my own.

An Unlikely Amish Match by Vannetta Chapman is the fifth book in the Indiana Amish Brides series. Each book in the series can be read on its own. Susannah told her friend that Micah is “trouble wrapped up in suspenders.” Susannah’s cancer matured her giving her a serious personality. She follows the rules, does her chores, watches her younger twin sisters (they are a handful) and makes beautiful quilts. Micah and Susannah are complete opposites which leads to some humorous and playful moments. I thought it was clever when Micah came up with a way for them to fish at night. There are also some tender scenes that will touch your heart. One of my favorite scenes is when Susannah tells Micah about her cancer and not being able to have children. I like how faith is incorporated into the story. God directs our paths and he puts certain people in our life for a reason. His ways are not our ways. This was a fun read with Micah and Susannah. Micahs rebellious attitude and being spoiled by his sisters gave way to his immaturity and not taking responsibility at the age of 25. There were some unexpected heart pounding events that may just wake individuals up on their view of life. Susannah Beiler strikes a deal with the bad boy in their community to stage a fake relationship. But as she gets to know him, she sees that he's more than a wild rebel, but can he accept her as she is once he learns her secret? Micah is sent to his Indiana relatives for 6 months after misbehaving, is the baby of a family of girls, and he isn't ready to settle down just yet. He enjoys his pick up truck, and having his fun. He is intrigued by Susannah's proposition and is willing to play along. Susannah Beiler strikes a deal with the bad boy in their community to stage a fake relationship. There were so many great characters in this book, I loved her siblings, and also her father and how he dispenses good measured advice. I know that when I pick up a book by the author , Vannetta Chapman I am in for a good read!! Her unique storytelling style keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end. This book was no disappointment! It met all of my expectations and more!! "An Unlikely Amish Match" is the fifth book in the Indiana Bride Series but like the previous books in the series, it is a standalone. I immediately fell in love with Susannah, the main character, a flawed human being, just like the rest of us. Yes, she is living in the Amish community however that does not exempt her from problems and challenges, of which she has many. Susannah has had a battle with cancer and is unable to bear children. In a typical Amish family , that can be a very real problem, as the usual is a rather large family. I was drawn into her life as she struggled with the fear of never being good enough to marry . What would a husband think of a wife that could not give him lots of children?? Micah, the "bad" boy enters the scene. I became very protective of my new friend, Susannah , as she decides to keep this unsavory guy away from her friends. Micah is attempting to get rid of his poor reputation and while doing so, he has to make some major decisions. Can Susannah trust him? Would you?? The characters were so realistic and well developed that their rocky road of life became mine . I laughed , I cried and I became frustrated as I traveled alongside them. The plot is one that grabs your attention and won't let go! There are just enough twists and turns to keep you reading. The element of faith and believing in the good times and the bad are present throughout the novel. There are sweet scenes that will touch the hardest hearts. When Susannah admits her problems to Micah, I was so touchedl God doesn't always give us exactly what we want. It is very true that He never leaves us, but we have to admit our weaknesses and trust Him even in our worst moments. His Forgiveness never abandons us. It is always ready for us. The past can not be allowed to keep us from moving forward in a positive way. Happiness is waiting for us!! This book was purchased from Amazon for review purposes. The thoughts and opinions expressed are honest and my own.

Maturity and seriousness don’t rank very high on his radar. Shortly after Micah arrives in Susannah’s community, gossip begins about his bad boy reputation. Susannah tries to not to pass judgment, but she is concerned about him and how his ways will affect her friends, and she makes it her job to protect them. So, when Micah asks her about inviting one of her friends on an outing, Susannah shoots down that idea real quick. She also makes excuses about all of her other friends. Although Susannah had shut herself off from dating, she suggests herself as Micah’s “buddy/companion,” all in the name of protecting her friends. And there begins Susannah’s journey into new and unfamiliar territory. Things are a little different for Micah. He’s the youngest child and only boy in his family. Therefore, he’s always been coddled and catered to. As a result, Micah struggles with being more “mature and serious.” He enjoys life in the moment, seizing the day so to speak. He and Susannah couldn’t be more polar opposites. Yet, Micah agrees with Susannah’s suggestion of being “buddies,” and thus also begins his own journey into new and unfamiliar territory. How will these two “buddies” fare in their new journeys? Will Susannah let go of her fears and seriousness enough to begin enjoying life in the moment? Will Micah be able to let go of living in the moment to become more mature and serious? Will these polar opposites be able to see eye to eye? I felt sorry for Micah because he really did put in an effort to change but his daddi would not accept him. When something happened beyond Micah’s control his daddi wouldn’t let him explain. The Bishop was more understanding than the daddi. This book is more about relationships and how we can get along with our differences. It had a satisfying, yet emotional ending. I have fallen in love with Mrs. Chapman's stories from the first time I read one about five years ago. In this story Susannah Beiler feels it is her duty to protect other young women from the bad boy in town. Yes, she is going to date him herself. As the saying goes, 'No good deed goes unpunished'. And as Susannah finds out it's always better to let the Lord solve a "problem." I loved this story and it's quirks and turns. Even in this cozy romance of Amish life Mrs. Chapman finds a way to surprise I have fallen in love with Mrs. Chapman's stories from the first time I read one about five years ago. As always Vannetta Chapman never fails to disappoint. I always seem to get way too involved in the characters lives and wish the book would never end. What a delightful read.

Sigh...I really enjoyed this book. Chapman has a way of avoiding the trap so many Amish fiction writers fall into: making characters saccharine sweet, and so unlike the rest of us. Yet they are both much deeper/different than what the community sees on the outside. How unfair it is to catagorize people based only on their experiences! Real friends will look beneath the surface to evaluate motives and see the heart's true worth. I love that this truth cuts both ways in this sweet romance. I had fun imagining a sequel to this surprising tale. NOT so much fun asking myself if I might be guilty of judging others by my small glimpse of them. Chapman has a way of challenging me that way! I received a copy of this book from the author, but was under no obligation to post a review.

Thank you in advance to the author, Vannetta Chapman, as well as JustRead Publicity Tours for providing a complimentary copy to review. A positive review was NOT required, and all words are my own. Not only is Amish Romance a fairly new genre to me (this is the second Amish romance book Ive read); but the author, Vannetta Chapman, is new to me as well. With the other series, the logos were reduced and markings were placed on the left side. This series got a more simplified “banner” and looks like a blue spine color. In months past I saw red, pink, maroon, green, and blue spines. So, I guess this is a move to make a more standard color for the series. Anyone who has read my blog, or knows me, knows I don’t read Amish fiction. I don’t dislike the genre; I just haven’t read much of it. My only encounter with Amish romance (or rather romantic suspense) was Witness (1985) with Harrison Ford. My how that barn dance scene stands out. And, yes there was some controversy with the film. Anyway … Right off the idea of a “bad Amish boy” has me interested! And, after getting to know Susannah and why she was the way she was – my heart broke for her. The idea of pretending to date Micah to keep him away from the other girls was adorable. Already this book mixes humor, sadness, and a bit of fun together. It is part of the “Indiana Amish Brides” series, though it completely acts as a standalone, so you don’t have to read the other four books. I might go looking for them down the road though. There is such a conflicting honesty about this one – and, we learn that from Micah. He has an “Englisch” (not a typo, they spell it that way) phone and wants to connect to the Englisch world, but does enjoy the simplicity of his Amish life/roots. He is a rebel because he doesn’t understand certain things or why they are in place. Nor does he feel there should be the rules. He is also not “committed” to the faith, whereas Susannah is. Micah’s grandparents are very strict and in one scene this is shown by his grandfather (daddi). Susannah has little to no interest in getting married, partly because of her medical past. This is the second Love Inspired (with even a Heartwarming one in there) book that deals with “CANCER”. As much as I hate adding a spoiler, those who are fighting it or knows someone who is might appreciate the warning. She does act like she is damaged goods, but yet isn’t treated as such by the majority of people she is around. She also has the common fear of a relapse. Amish language is used. The author appears to use what looks like a cross of Pennsylvania Dutch and perhaps another one mixed. As my grandmother’s family once settled in Pennsylvania Dutch country (which explains a spelling in their surname), I guess I inherited some ability to understand and be familiar with Pennsylvania Dutch. Given the content of the sentence – it was easy to figure out who was being referred to and what was being said, and almost the pronunciation as thought I could hear it. Despite Susannah being the front character, I really enjoyed Micah’s journey more. I enjoyed watching how he matured and after a tragedy he stepped right up to “be a man”. It also broke my heart to see how his grandparents, particularly his daddi, treated him. However, I am sure that as an Englischer looking in, it would seem strange, if not cruel. So, I have to remember to keep the context when I am reading. Even though this was a “Love Inspired” book, and Susannah’s father was the bishop, I found this was lighter on the faith presentation than usual L.I books. That didn’t bother me one way or the other. As with most of the Harlequin books I’ve read (Love Inspired, Love Inspired Suspense, Heartwarming, and Intrigue); this was hard to put down. I was halfway into this one, and almost dozing off to sleep before I could summon the willpower to put it down. Needless to say that the writer’s style was one that allowed the story to progress naturally and keep me (the reader) interested – perhaps too much. This book was an absolute delight, and definitely made me see Amish romance in a new way.

I really enjoyed this book! I was cheering for Susannah as soon as I read that she was a cancer survivor and was struggling with thinking that fact meant she was going to remain single for her whole life. Micah was hard for me to like initially, but it didn't take long to understand that underneath his cavalier appearing attitude was someone who had a heart. There were two surprises toward the end of the book that added some drama and suspense and kept me turning the pages. This is the fifth I really enjoyed this book! Vannetta Chapman has quickly become a favorite author of mine. An Unlikely Amish Match was full of heart, truth and life lessons. I loved the characters and the story and found myself rereading several passages more than a couple of time, simply because of the raw truth that they spoke of. Lessons that many of is need reminded of from time to time.

This was a quick read with a sweet storyline. Susannah Beiler and Micah Fisher are polar opposites, she's the Bishop's daughter, settled into her life as an Amish woman and he is an Amish man who lives a different lifestyle. For a fairly short novel, there is a lot going on and truthfully there are no real surprises which isn't a bad thing since it was a pleasant one day read. This entertaining book explores the complexities of life when Susanna Beiler has a run in with what she thinks is an Englisch man but soon discovers how wrong she is when Micha Fisher moves in next door. I enjoyed Susanna’s 5 year old twin sisters and their adorable antics just as much as I enjoyed Micha’s ingenuity and his zest for life. Wonderful storytelling, lovable characters and a heart warming happily ever after promises a satisfying read for all. An Unlikely Amish Match is a charmer.  It's a straight-laced, rule following Bishop's daughter meets Amish bad boy romance with a touching twist.  The back stories of what makes Susannah Beiler and Micah Fisher who they are and their character growth that begins to show who they will be were pitch perfect and, particularly in Susannah's case, rather endearing.  It is in Susannah's character that Chapman's storytelling truly shines.
